Contracts won't go in affect until after the "new year."

I'd imagine the "new year" doesn't start if no CBA agreement is reached.

Maybe he just mean FA that will cost major $$$ to resign. CBA or not these player salaries would probably remain the same… But yea I guess technically it is kind of hypocritical.
