cam newton: sport science

He may not be as fast as Vick, but he more than makes up for that with his size. Just look at how hard it is for teams to sack Big Ben. Newton is just as big as he is and he's a lot faster.

BTW, I'm pretty sure that Vick only ran a 4.45 at the combine. Imagine that, but twice as big and strong.

Mark my words...Cam Newton will rise up everybody's draft board between now and April. I guarantee it.

NFL linebackers will be just as big if not bigger than he is tho. I'm not doubting his ability, but he won't run through linebackers like he does in college. I think teams may just have one of their faster linebackers spy him. So yes teams may have to alter their gameplan a little, but I doubt it will be like they are playing against Vick

I am hoping I was wrong about him. I did not think he would be great. I thought he would be ok to good, but not great. I am hoping he rips the Ducks up Monday night, and steals the show. I also hope he participates in the Combine and out shines everyone. Other wise I dont think he will go #1. It is still way too early though. The Draft boards will probably change a lot before April.

Dude, Cam Newton is about 6'6" 250lbs...there aren't many LBers in the NFC South that are as big as him, much less with the ability to run with him.

seriously.

falcons and falcons LBs are all around 6'1 and 230-240 lbs.

the bucs LBs are all an inch shorter.

you think they are going to love the idea of that guy running at them? lol.

You guys really need to stop bringing Vick into this, Newton doesn't in any way compare to Vick. Mike couldn't do anything but run. Cam has the running skills and the passing ability that Vick never had. He is the total package while Vick was very one dimension.

Agree totally with the above. LOL

I have to agree. Its a gamble but, even if luck was in the draft, newton would be who i'd say has the most potential. Luck is wonderful and could be the next manning. Newton could be something the nfl has never seen.Just his potential has me sold. He is a once in a generation talent. When have we ever heard of a 6'6 250 player at any position running a 4.52(its rare). not to even bring up having a cannon for an arm and pretty accurate.its time to gamble people. we've played it safe with the good ole boys for far to long. Our offense average almost 12 points a game this season and we pick a defensive player?

Sure he has just one college season under his belt thats why its a gamble. All the qbs are a jumbled mess right now and if thats the case you go with the one with the most potential.
