who isn't?

most quarterbacks taken #1 overall are not project picks

actually any player taken #1 overall should never be project picks

if we can trade down to the middle of the first and he's still available; sure take a chance on him. but taking him #1 overall would be a ridiculously stupid move.

I hope my fellow Panthers fans will take the time to OBJECTIVELY evaluate the way he performs in the Natl Championship game against OREGON. It will be an excellent opportunity to take a look at his potential (How his performances against ALA, LSU, AND South Carolina arent enough is BEYOND ME!!). Keep in mind, the Ore defense was one that Luck struggled against (0 TDs and 2 INTs in 2nd half). So we may see Aub coaches give Cam the opportunity to prove he can "outshine" the Luck.

no one questions that he is an extraordinary athlete. people question whether he would be able to be successful in the NFL. he is a multi-year project at the quarterback position.

But, unlike most "projects", this kid will still be able to move the chains while he's learning. Not only that, but just like Michael Vick, he would change how opponents game plan against us. They won't be able to stack the LOS against the run and pin their ears back on pass plays anymore, because there will always be the threat of the QB running on them.

I also agree this Cam's off the field problems are way overblown by some fans. He can't help what his daddy did, and I would be willing to bet that half the players in the NFL probably cheated on a test either in HS or college.

I don't know about everybody else, but the thought of watching Atlanta's defense get frustrated and worn out while trying to chase a Panthers QB around all day, really appeals to me.

The way Cam led his team back down 24-0 @ Alabama is what convinced me he is the real deal. He was phenomenal in that game, nothing short.

The national championship game will be a good test on Newton. Oregon's defense is very underrated. They only give up 6 second half points per game. It will be interesting to see how he reacts to Oregon's second half adjustments.

I'm not sure he would change how teams gameplan like Vick does. Just take one guy and spy him. He ran a 4.52, that's good speed but in the NFL plenty of guys can keep up with him.

He may not be as fast as Vick, but he more than makes up for that with his size. Just look at how hard it is for teams to sack Big Ben. Newton is just as big as he is and he's a lot faster.

BTW, I'm pretty sure that Vick only ran a 4.45 at the combine. Imagine that, but twice as big and strong.

Mark my words...Cam Newton will rise up everybody's draft board between now and April. I guarantee it.

i hadn't thought about the beauty of that, but yeah. that would be sweet.

agreed. this guy is a warrior and will fight to get you back in the game and get his teammates on board. he got them fired up and dominated. can't ask for much more than that.

true. you take this guys speed, size and running ability and it makes him really dangerous to deal with. add to it his arm and accuracy and you have something special. his contagious fire on the field will have everyone around him playing at a higher level. he won't win games by himself, necessarily, but he would sure have everyone behind him more than anyone we have now.
