funny when you use the word outdated in refering to people's opinion of him when the guy is outdated himself and well past the imaginary prime people on his bandwagon believe existed.

meh.

let's just stick with your plan then. hire Harbaugh and draft Luck, pretty sound plan to me.

and you will take Vick off that list because he wont be let go. As for the others, i think Grossman re-signs with Washington for 2 or 3 years and Young could also sign or be traded to Washington. After that NOT one QB is worth signing unless you have them as your backup.

there's a pretty good reason they don't want him anymore.

But would he be an upgrade over what we have? YES.

Would we be able to get him for reasonably cheap? Don't know... he signed a big extension a couple years ago.

But the guy is a player. He's big, strong, can run, has a CANNON, and is a great leader. I think all he needs is a fresh start in a new organization.

We could say everyone on that list just needs a "fresh start"

True... but out of that entire list, (even though DG isn't on the list) Garrard would be the cream of the crop... he's a legit NFL starting QB. I doubt we get him, but he'd be a good fit here...and unlike Jimmy, when pressure comes, Garrard can truck somebody.

All Billy Volek has ever done is play well when given the chance, look at his career numbers

Comp Att Rating Yds Yds/Att TD Int Rtg

337 561 60.1 3,754 6.7 27 15 84.9

I was thinking the same thing. Draft a QB, Sit him, Sit Clausen, and play Volek.

Add to the fact we have a deep FA class of DTs and DEs and its not looking so bad to be a panthers fan.

I think the Seahawks were on to something with Whitehurst pick up. San Diego has a pretty good record of developing QB's. That has a lot to do with John Ramsdell. Guy has worked with Kurt Warner, Marc Bulger, Rivers, Volek, and Whitehurst. Volek has potential as a cheap stop gap. He was once in line for the starting gig in Tennessee. Kerry Collins miracle revival cost him the job, along with some personality clashes with Fisher.

Second option has to be Alex Smith. The expectations of being a number 1 pick QB are high. He did not reach them. But he is a solid NFL starting caliber QB. Is he the best no, but he does have some talent and experience. Vernon Davis is a ultra talented TE but those numbers are partly due to Alex Smith. The guy knows how to gun it down field and involve his secondary receivers.

I lot of those guys are going nowhere literally and figuratively. Volek and Smith have some upside in the right offense.
