I think at this point there isnt a QB that can come in from college and make any more of a difference than Clausen. We need a veteran QB to come in and let some of our young Qbs learn. Let Jimmy be a back up and just get some more experience and then maybe he can be good. If we dont trade down then we have to take the best player in a position that we are in desperate need and thats the DT.

I do not believe we should be making any decisions from here on out with Clausen's future in mind. He's on his own. If he develops fine, if he doesn't that's fine too.

We don't need to be signing anyone in order to do what may, possibly, could be good for Clausen, in case Clausen may, possibly, hopefully, could turn out to be a great QB.

That crap needs to stop.

I would not be mad if we took Green and picked up Orton...

I want to say pick up a QB, but if they don't turn out to be a franchise QB then we missed a high quality WR and CB..

The scouting department has it's work cut out and whatever we do, they know better than any of us..

there is a downside to any pick.. we need a QB, but picking one that doesn't turn out to be extremely solid to very good is still a wasted pick when we could have that true #1 WR with solid receivers around him.. or a really good cover corner... Fairly is an option too I guess.

on talent factor, Peterson and Green. However nobody wants to draft a WR or CB at #1

Here's a question though, has Calvin Johnson justified his #1 selection? Green should be every bit as good if not better than Johnson

Green would be coming to a team with Steve Smith and up and coming guys like Gettis and LaFell. There is an extreme difference in talent verses when Johnson went to Detroit. Green won't have to shoulder #1 WR responsibilities but he will be talented enough to make defenses worry about just putting 1 guy on him. He'd probably get double every now then.

Then if you consider that Smitty is always doubled, plus the rise of Gettis and LaFell, then you have a lot of damage to do against defenses.

I believe if we draft Green, we will try to trade Smith for more picks on draft day. Possibly to try to get back in the first after a packaged deal.

get Orton on the team and I feel pretty fuging good...

you may need a QB to throw to the WRs.. but having Green, Smitty, Gettis, LaFell is going to help tremendously with a decent QB on the field..

You have to go offense with the first pick. Plain and simple. The defense was good this year and is a couple of free agent signings away from being top-tier. But that won't show if they get no help from the offense-Again.

You have to take Gabbert or Green.

We had one of the worst offenses in league history last year-and it was all thanks to the passing game. Juice it up. Fill other needs by trading expendable players or via Free Agency, and if whoever is playing QB for this team next season is even relatively decent, I think we can be a good football team, even as crazy as that sounds.

Good running game.

Good defense.

Good special teams.

What's missing?

You have to address it. Period.

if we draft Green. Smitty is gone imo. If we stay young at QB Smitty's negatives probably outweigh the positives.

Honestly...I see Smitty having some trade value if we're going to make a trade for a QB.

If this team is targeting Green, then Smitty all of a sudden becomes very expendable...

Orton throwing to Green, Gettis, LaFell with a great running attack and a strong offensive line? Throw in a good defense on the other side..

I know we as a fanbase had all our of our eggs in one basket with Luck, but the season is far, FAR from over just because Luck stayed.

With the right moves, we can become a formidable rather quickly.

addressing it doesn't mean you have to use the #1 pick. You can't predict the NFL. Washington didn't think they would have McNabb, Chicago Cutler, Denver Orton, etc. Carolina needs to be aggressive when an opportunity presents itself.

Orton ain't the key. A good OC/offensive scheme is. McDaniels as flawed as he is can coach/scheme an offense.
