springsteen is way overrated. i just dont get the hype. he seems to be a bit egotistic too. " what time is it? boss time", oh please.

his fans are going suck his dick for the show. however the nfl is responsible for the fireworks and such.

It was much better than what I expected. I'm not a Springstein fan, but it was pretty good.

Prince kicked his ass, though. Prince should do it every year.

Springsteen definitely mainstreamed his act for the masses - that's why I enjoyed it also - I've been to enough of his concerts to know that when he doesn't mainstream it...I want to slit my wrists. I read in the paper today that there was an interview with him beforehand and he was asked why he chose to do the Superbowl performance now when he had always turned it down before (appararently he's been asked a lot). He replied, because I've got an album to promote dummy. Tell it like it is Bruce - lol.

His age was also commented on and the interviewer said something about him probably not able to jump on pianos anymore. He said not to count him out. I noticed that he jumped on top of the piano from the getgo.

I heard the interview on the radio on the way to our friends last night. He was very straight forward about doing it because of his album. LOL

THe Boss is classic and appeals to people with eclectic tastes. Seems many in this thread have no tolerance to different styles. Bruce is rock and roll.

And he'd been a great halftime perfomer 20 years ago. I dont even watch it anymore because of the lack of relevance to todays music scene

He was much better than the Rolling Stones. I had forgotten all about Tom Petty, and I like Tom Petty. For me, it'll really be hard to top Prince. He had it all.

Bruce was OK, better than Petty (and I love Petty). Bruce did go over the top though. He can actually sing pretty good but yeah he was screaming last night except for glory days. That one song, Working on a Dream, off his new album, which is pretty good. He's more of a singer/songwriter than a all-out great singer, that's how it's always been.

I think they should have had AC/DC, Aerosmith, ZZ Top back, etc. The reason they don't show a lot of new bands is cause the music isn't as uplifting for a half-time show as the older artists and also because whoever they pick that's new won't be known for all people. Who doesn't know who Bruce is? Or Petty?
