2011 Panthers Offense: Vince Young, Moore, Clausen, AJ Green, S.Smith, Lafell/Gettis!

The only on the field problems VY ever had was when a coach tried to tell him he wasn't the guy. Tells me he's a competitor. I'm not saying the Panthe's should close eyes and hang hopes on him. But I am saying that when you have NOTHING CLOSE TO A FRACHISE QB. And truly you never really have. A player like VY being available has to be something you look at VERY seriously. Because you don't get a thousand chances at landing that player.

Get Young. Draft Green. Keep Moore and Clausen... maybe even Pike. And rebuild your team. If you get an opportunity to draft a great QB take it. The worst thing that can happen with Young is that he doesnt work out. But the fact that he could more than work out makes me think you people are crazy for writing him off given our situation.

That whooshing sound you hear is everything people have been saying sailing over your head. You dont bring a guy like that into a young, struggling team. Period. The guy disrespects one of the NFL's best coaches and you want to bring him into this franchise? A guy who has proven lacks the leadership necessary to run a NFL franchise. A guy who has proven he doesnt have the maturity to handle the day to day stress of the NFL. A guy that has proven he will QUIT on his team. No. Just stop. VY isnt the guy. Let it go.

I never said VY was THE guy. I just can't believe how you guys write him off. Its like all you do is read headlines. Guy was in a terrible situation and still has a record of 30-17. His teammates all came to his back and said they loved playing with him. This is a kid who wins games. Offensive rookie of the year. A Guy truly looking for a second chance. Could he fail. Yes. But is he a cancer? Thats a reach. Because the Titans won more games with him as starter than without.

VY isn't even likely to Carolina. But to completely write him off like we are in a situation to be picky. Like we don't have players like Gross or Beason, or even Smith or Williams who would be a rock for that guy. You are crazy to think that its not an option. Have fun enjoying another 2 win season with that kind of attitude.

Bottom line is VY is still capable of being a franchise QB. But just like Vick out of prison, situation is absolutely key for him. I don't know if the Panthers are the right situation but IMO they should be trying to be. I'm not the least bit worried about the other players. Even in Tenn, VY didn't try to turn a bunch of players on the coach. His situation truly seems to me like a troubled young qb though talented in a bad situation.

Vince Young is not a bad person and the nut that some of you are trying to make him out to be. Yes, he has had some emotional issues, but it's not because he's crazy, it's because he wants to be the best that he can be, but doesn't know how to exactly go about it. Fish always rejected Young. He treated him like a red-headed stepchild. Though Fish put p a good facade, Young knew exactly how his coach felt about him, and that adversely affected his play, and helped facilitate Young's break down.

Sometimes a player and leadership just don't mesh for all kinds of reasons, and sometimes little things on the field, morph into bigger issues off the field. Yes, it was time for young to go, but his teammates have mixed feelings about his departure---some even alluding to the fact that he should have gotten another year. The situation got a little ugly, so of course his ex-teammates are reluctant to publicly address the situation in a totally honest and forthcoming manner.

Would I back the Brinks truck up for Young? No. Would I give up a draft pick for the guy? No. Would I even consider talking to him before I get a new HC and OC? No. But if my new staff had the willingness and/or desire to take a chance on turning the kid into a consistently effective starter in the NFL---a guy who obviously has shown positive progression at the position and has the physical skill set to be a beast---then I would at least consider talking to him, laying out the situation, seeing where his head is at, laying out some ground rules and expectations (or lack thereof), and see where it all leads to.

Even if young were to be our back-up, we could probably due a whole lot worse. Basically I wouldn't dismiss the notion out of hand, I would at least give the thought some honest contemplation.

How is he joke when he won 9 out of 11 games in 2009 and had a QB rating of 98.6 last year? He also won the 2006 Rose Bowl so obviously he CAN get it done under pressure with the right coach! We don't have to change him. He already has what it takes.

Again, he has more talent than any of our QB roster, a better record, and he is one of the possibly FA trades and one of the better choices. We don't need to change him, just not f**k him up.

In the other thread you mentioned how Moore can learn from his past experience but you can't extend the same benefit of doubt to Vince, when he has achieved quite a bit more than Moore both as a PRO and in college?

He won all those games single handled??? Damn, he's a fuging god.

Let some other team deal with him.

It amazes how many people think another team/coach is going to make young into a leader that he is not.
