2011 Panthers Offense: Vince Young, Moore, Clausen, AJ Green, S.Smith, Lafell/Gettis!

Vince Young just finished the season with a 98.6 QB rating even though he got benched and has been a regular starter for most of his career. Stick any decent young black QB in Tennessee under a reportedly racist coach and let him waste away down there and see if they all don't go a little crazy.

Bring him to Queen city, and I bet you it would be a refreshing start for him.

Did our team want Steve back after he punched his teammate in the face? NO. We didn't either. Things change.

Mr. Scot I take you to be a man of reason and logic. So please, look at the reality. Our leaders are currently Clausen, Moore and Pike.

-Clausen is NO leader, and he may not be ready for yet another year to fill that role. That's evident.

- While Moore could fill that role, we have no clue how he's going to look after surgery and if we are really going to re-sign him.

- That leaves Pike. Nothing to see here so let's just move on.

What do we have left? The draft?

-Newton? He's an unproven version of VY with more serious legal issues that would probably cost first draft money. VY has issues but at least he does have experience and proven winning record.

-Locker? We don't have a second round pick, and we're probably not going to go for him.

That leaves off-season. Out of all the off-season candidates we currently know of, who is a better fit? Honestly!

And I certainly wouldn't want to BUILD a team around a guy like Newton, but a guy like Vince Young could be a good stop-gap for 2-3 years until we really do find our next franchise QB.

I have never been big on VY, I tend to like traditional pocket QB's, but when looking at the facts he just seems like the logical choice if we can get him.

You don't put out a fire by setting a gas can in the middle of it.

Regarding Smith, in reality, the defensive guys set aside their anger for what they felt was the good of the team after word came down that Smith would be suspended two games. Had he not been punished, you'd likely have seen a pretty big schism.

As far as the QB options, it's probably going to come down to seeing what a new staff can do with Clausen and Pike. The majority of the rookie options either suck outright or aren't worth the number one overall pick. The only vet option who might be available is Orton, and that's only if the Broncs come down on asking price (right now want a second rounder) which they might. If not, you'd have to hope for another surprise release.

Bottom line though: You don't take a bad option just because no other options exist.

VY's antics are really not even close to some of our own team mates and some of the biggest stars in this game. His problem was his altercation with his coach. I'm not saying build a team around Young, but for now he would fill the role.

And he would be ready to go day 1. Let me put it to you another way. You know when we needed a change of pace last year and we swapped Moore for Clausen? No change. Do you think anything would be different if we did it again this year? Think about it really good. Now think about the same situation but you substitute in someone like Young for Clausen or Moore....I see A WHOLE different game.

The same stands where the fans all booed him? Not trying to excuse him for any immature or childish behavior. But I think the guy still has franchise QB potential and given the right situation he could thrive. Signing him would be a risk reward deal but its little to no bigger risk than any other option.

Draft Green, make a serious run at Young. And prove to your fan base that you are telling the truth about changing with the times. JMO but Falcons, Saints, and the Bucs are all very good teams and we took a huge step backwards in what is turning out to be one of the more competitive divisions in the NFL

I concede he could use some grooming and maturity but no one is exempt from learning that. But once again, give me a better alternative all things considered.

Not only is that speculation, and it was probably more like he felt like killing himself, but so what? If you have not been at that point in your life at least once you are either a lucky man, or too young.

No.

Rich people are just as prone to suicide as poor people, if not more. When you make a lot of money, and are on the brink of losing it, when you hold a high position, and are on the brink of losing it, or in Young's case when you have been a star your whole life and the next day you get booed off stage......you are more likely. Money or no money.

So no, I don't think he's more f**ked up in the head at all. Pretty typical actually, but I get the feeling you are a bit young from you even making that statement.
