Justify why Cam Newton isn't worth #1 overall?

Cam's a little raw, but he can run, and he has all the physical tools to get it done, he just needs a good QBs coach and/or QB oriented OC which is what I would've wanted if we got Luck anyway, but Newton needs that to get a little bit more polished

agreed and from the sound of it they are going to be spending a whole lot of extra attention to making sure they have good assistants. esp. on offense. they are going to have the support system in place to help develop him anyway...why not give them the best product possible to start out with?

exactly you can bring in somebody to coach him up.you can divide those 12 plus carries between our rbs.

he's not as polished as luck IMO but he has superior athletic skills and size. you might have to build your offense around what he does best and add on as he gets better in the pocket

I never stole a lap top when I was 19. Do you Cam fans really think he isn't shady? You think for a second that JR would draft a guy like Cam? No way JR invests in a guy with Cam's history - not to mention with his surrounding cast.

I would rather see us get Vince Young and save the draft pick for another position. I am not a Vince Young fan but Cam Newton is a younger Vince Young that isn't proven in the NFL. At least Young is proven and has the same character issues.

yea which is why i'm not mad they're going for d-coords for HC

as long as they get a guy to run the offense that knows what he's doing, both sides of the ball will be strong

agreed. people may not like it, but that is very likely what the FO is going to be doing.

considering that richardson said that FA won't be dealt with until the CBA is signed, you can count on them not wanting to wait around to see what scrubs are available. the draft will have happend long before the CBA is signed.
