and he plays in a spread offense (an offense which doenst make NFL reads). Remember The Golden Calf of Bristol??? those same questions about how he will translate to the NFL go to Newton, he cant just run over guys like Vilma and Abraham in the NFL, he will have to pass from the pocket and run as a last resort.

why couldn't he? he's got 3 inches and 20 pounds on pretty much every LB in the NFCS and he's as big as most DEs. no reason he couldn't truck over them.

Bodies are built differently. LB and DE bodies are very solid and are used to smashing constantly. They know that when you tackle you take good angles and run your feet. They've tackled guys that are slightly smaller but are quicker and faster than him.

They won't have any issues in a head to head situation. In the pocket maybe but that has less to do with size and more to do with subtle movements.

Remember The Golden Calf of Bristol trying that in preseason??? remember what happened to the ribs?? his size doesnt matter, running like a running back in the NFL and being the quarterback opens you up to injury like Vick and Young both had. He cant run over everyone in the NFL like he did in college and he cant carry the ball 15 times and expect to win games like he did in college.

IMO there's only two players worth the first pick overall and three real options to do with it.

Peterson or Green or trade back.

If trading back you can take Newton or Fairley with like the 6th or 7th pick in the draft...

In theory, it sounds good. Thing is, either of those 2 can be reach picks (referring to Fairley and Newton). They could be taken, based on other team's needs (really not sure of draft position outside of our own picks). Yes, I think we'd look weird in the eyes of national media and other fans/teams, but who gives a damn? Everybody already hates the Panthers, not like the care who we pick. If ANY other team in the league had the #1 pick, they'd be discussing it every day on SportsCenter starting THIS week (or at least by next Tuesday). They won't discuss the Panthers draft choices and probabilities for more than a minute or 2 until like, the week before the draft.

I want Newton. Again, could be the Auburn fan in me, but I want him. I think he could do great things for us. No, he's not what we're used to...but dammit, look what we are used to! We haven't seen GREAT QB play since 2003 (or, arguably, 1999...).

I have to say, this team needs, excitement, energy, swag...Newton fits all those. Some of the neatest scenes I saw all year was at the end of a game when he would run over to the stands and go see all his fans. Fans love him and with enough work he could be a very good player.

This is one of those "what the heck" moves. This team is dying for life and Newton would provide us with some. I say pull the trigger. And thruth is, we're not gonna get a decent trade for this pick, just take a shot.

I am officially on the Cam Newton bandwagon, I saw we sell Cammy-Cam juice at the stadium if we get him as well, lol.

If we needed swag we would have soulja boy as our mascot

He would be too tempted to invite people on the field to do his new dance. Can you imagine how pissed they would be when they got threw out...

Lets not repeat history.
