So who's next? Searching for a Carolina QB

They do. They're probably saddened he isn't the draft but I highly doubt they were anywhere near as obsessed with him as they are.

I'm warming a bit to AJ Green, but I still don't know that we'll find anyone decent to throw him the ball. I don't feel confident heading into next season with Moore and Clausen again.

I honestly would not be surprised if the Panthers went for a QB still, especially after the combine, where I expect the QBs in the draft will shove their stock up quite a bit with nice showings.

I know I'm in the minority, but I think that trying to work out a deal for Kyle Orton is the way to go. Some people look at his offensive stats this season and think that this is based simply on fantasy football, and good numbers on a bad team...but the truth is, he's a very solid QB.

The main year he played for Chicago, he ran a very solid ball control offense. He proved this year that he can air it out and put up big numbers when needed as well. Through it all, he's made very few mistakes.

Trying to get Kolb is another option, but I think his pricetag would be too high.

I doubt anyone trades up to the first pick, so I think you take the best quarterback available. AJ Green doesn't do us any good with the likes of Jimmy Clausen and Matt Moore, Patrick Peterson and Nick Fairley don't help us out if we are on the field all day. Ryan "Brohm" Mallett, and another QB named Jake aren't the answer. Blaine Gabbert seems like another Chase Daniel to me. The pick has got to be Cam Newton.

Seriously, if a coach saw his rookie Qb throwing check down passes 95% of a game, every game, shouldn't the coach go and talk to the rookie qb about it? Tell him that's not how a professional qb is supposed to play. If not Luck. I'd try to develop Clausen. Get him Green. Fix the Oline and hire a qb coach that will work with him.

If he improves, good. If he continues to flounder, then good news also, we get the #1 pick the next season also.

Kolb is likely too expensive for our tastes. Orton may not be, kinda depends how things go in Denver.

The problem with sticking with Clausen is that he wasn't just bad, he was abysmal. Unless he really has turned over a new leaf or does really well in training camp... I just don't see how drafting a receiver #1 would help him at all. The problem wasn't guys not being open; sure on some plays, but on many they WERE open.

Anyway, not trying to get into a bash Clausen thread here cause I hope he does well, but I do wonder if we won't take a swing at a Gabbert or a Mallett if they have good combines.

A new WR wouldn't help him. Possibly a new coaching staff, one that involves a really good Qb coach is what would probably help him out.
