I really don't think Luck's decision had anything to do with not wanting to play here. He just seems really hard-headed about getting his degree. I got that sense long before any of this happened. I don't care how bad you don't want to play for a particular team, you don't turn down that kind of money and risk it all like this over it. He had other reasons.

The thing is he was considering it. While your owner's actions may not have been the only reason it is pretty clear they were the tipping point. Other owners may be thinking it but no one is publicly saying what he said and no one should.

Keep in mind that you can always pass on the first overall pick and then pick at any time in a lower spot without trading.

This is the worst time ever to be a Panthers fan. We've never been so low. Honestly, I don't think we're gonna be that much better even if we TRY to win next season, possibly looking at another Top 5 pick, especially if QB isn't addressed at all.

Problem is, the #1 pick isn't nearly as valuable as it once was being that Luck stayed at school. First year in a long time that there wasn't a pretty consensus #1 pick going into the draft. Like I said the other day, holding that presser when he did, saying what he said, then leaking that we'd take Luck the same day - LOL, I told you we'd be left standing at the altar with egg on our face.

We are a laughingstock right now. We ARE the Lions right now. Scratch that, WORSE. They had several opportunities to draft a franchise QB, missed on one, made it on the other but he's injury prone.

We don't even have that opportunity.

Say what you want, but Cam Newton and Gabbert aren't gonna be franchise guys. This is the most useless draft in years in regards to the top of the draft.

Dilfer is reporting that Luck didn't want to come to Charlotte. So what changed since the Bowl game? If he already knew he didn't like Charltotte/Carolina before the Bowl, he would've just said he was staying in school then, if it was truly about getting his degree, it wouldn't have mattered anyway...

What changed? JR's dumbass held the most media-savvy presser known to man...

First, stop the whole "if it wasn't for JR we wouldn't have a fanbase" crap. As if he cares about you. As if he would even have a team if the city didn't step up and buy PSL's. As if we haven't moved this team to like 12th in total revenue despite being in a smaller market than a lot of teams making less many than us.

JR got a taste of the good money during our Super Bowl run and years after. Before that, I could believe his love was in football, now it's all money and pie charts. Why would someone like Luck declare to.....

a) Get picked by a small market team that probably won't make him a superstar like some other team would (not JR's fault on this).

B) Get picked by a owner that doesn't want to pay till a new CBA is worked out which will be significantly less money than it could have been. Why even play those games when you can just stay another year, and come out and hopefully have a different team ready to pick you? If this is JR's plan, ok, but hey, let's not go on TV and let everyone know this. Let's not have a presser and look like Al Davis' brother and show some stupid pie charts.

Like someone pointed out, Luck was up in the air after the bowl game, then JR's presser came out, and he made up his mind VERY quick despite his coach deciding yet etc. I don't care what anyone says, I think JR may have lost us the chance at Luck.

Then, we start going after scrub coaches from the Browns, etc. JR doesn't want to pay a coach that's proven (in other words, that costs money). AND, doing this in an job market that is terrible right now. Raising prices, etc.

JR hasn't done anything right so far in my eyes. Hope that changes.

The only "fuging idiot" I can see is the one that started this thread. Luck wasn't coming out regardless and it had absolutely nothing to do with his decision. You want to bitch and complain about your owner "ruining" this franchise, then I suggest you walk in my shoes as a Redskins fan. As born/raised North Carolinian, I love it when the Panthers do good, and they have a sound organization regardless of what you idiots think. Look at all this franchise has done in it's short period in the league.

Most slave - ass, blindly loyal, hive brained, fan base ever. If you don't kiss JR's ass, then you are not a "true panther fan".

1.) JR cut the roster because he wanted to save money. Umm... no, he did it to force Foxy to play the young guys with "potential". Hahaha.

2.) If it weren't for JR, we wouldnt have a team. Umm... no, if it wasn't for the PSL owners we wouldnt have had a team @ the time. Most of you live in some backwoods ass town and think the rest of the state is as simple and hopeless as you are. NC is the 10 most populated state in the union and CHA is the largest city. We would have another team in a heartbeat if this franchise were to go away.
