No teams fighting over Fox?

Call it an excuse if you want, but the threat of a lockout has kept a lot of owners from not letting coaches go who were assumed to be gone and/or promoting interim coaches (and not even seriously interviewing other candidates). The fact that Marvin Lewis is going to be back in Cincinnati is all the proof that you need.

Before some mouthbreather posts "Why didn't Jerry keep John Fox then?" Obviously our situation was different in that Jerry was keeping Fox around for one more year because he had to pay him anyway.

To respond by quoting the man himself, "Would you write a check for $11,441,000? I didn't think so. This is a business, you know."

But in all seriousness, you're probably right about the lockout. I'm not sure what the contract status is with all the coaches who were rumored to be gone by now, but that would be a strong indicator.

Honestly, I think he'll be coaching the Browns before it's all said and done.

I agree unless he ends up at Oakland. Reality at this point he is going to be 2nd option for pretty much every team. Everyone right now wants you know who and then Cowher. Cleveland will try and convince Holgrem to coach 1st - if not then they will go after Gruden. If those two don't work, Foxy will prob. be next.

Not having back to back winning seasons really hurts him.
