Do you think the panthers will not budge with #1 pick?

I think one of the things that separates Brady from Manning that everyone is overlooking is the Patriots. While Manning did have an O basically built for him the Patriots as a team, irrespective of the QBs, seem to be perennially a better team overall. That in large part goes back to the HC. While I don't think Brady is a product of Belichick I do think that Belichick's teams helped him out quite a bit.

It's patently unfair to compare two elite QBs that are on different teams. We'd be lucky to have either (insert bad Andrew Luck pun here).

Certainly, but I have also watched so many Colts and Patriots guys over the years, and there is so much more to it then that. The BIGGEST difference I see between the two, is that for whatever reason, when the pressure is on, when the need to step up is highest, especially during play-off games, Brady eats that pressure up. He LOVES it. The more pressure, the more focused, clutch and ice cold he becomes. While Manning...well he chokes and gets scared a lot of times. Brady pulls through with the W, while Manning falls short most of the time.

Brady's confidence remains steadfast no matter what the situation, while Manning does have a visible tipping point. It eventually gets to him and affects him. That's what I have observed over the years. I just think Brady's adrenaline tank is not only bigger, and operates in a more efficient manner, but once ignited, it actually helps him focus and become blind to the pressure around him.

That's probably one of the intangibles a scout cannot detect, because things like this can only be measured in situations like a playoff game, Superbowl, or when there's really high stakes and pressure on the line. And some guys, just operate better than others at that level and college rarely lends itself to that type of atmosphere.

Maybe if we had a true college Superbowl, and NFL-like tournament structure, it would emulate the pressure of the NFL a little bit better. Not only that but then I might give a poo about college football too.

The Carolina nightmare scenario:

1. Panthers hire new head coach John Fox 2.0

2. Panthers draft Andrew Luck #1 overall.

3. Jerry Richardson, as he very strongly suggested during his presser, decides he's going to single-handedly enforce a new rookie cap of his own and decides to play hardball with Luck and his agent.

4. Luck remains unsigned and enters the 2012 draft as a free agent.
