Do you think the panthers will not budge with #1 pick?

I'll put it the same way I did before.

The expectation is that this kid will be the next Peyton Manning.

If you had Peyton in his prime, with his whole career ahead of him, what kind of deal would you take to give him up?

Do you really think you can come up with a draft pick package that would be worth what a QB like that brings?

I don't :nonod:

No, but there's almost no chance he becomes the next Manning either.

I must be the only one here that would rather find the next "sure-to-bust" 6th round Tom Brady than the "sure-thing" 1st round Manning. Seriously why do so many people put Manning so high up above when Brady schools him year after year and has, what, 4 times the rings?

Some fans really need to sort out their priorities. Winning the Superbowl is STILL the goal of the NFL! They are not even close in intangibles and W factor. Not even close.

Brady is a fluke and a product of Belichick, sure he could probably go to another team now and win, but only after 10 years with the cheat. Would you even know who he was if he had gone to Buffalo or Arizona? Who knows? But he would not have been considered a bust if he had never won.

Yeah, those 6rd draft picks are starting all over the league have have 3 rings on their hand...

I just think its funny how everyone slobbers over the top pick, and compares him to Manning, when the clear cut greatest QB currently playing, a real life active legend, is a 6th rounder, and he's probably going to be in yet another Superbowl, yet everyone just ignores it and talks about Manning who over the same time span has one ring, and not to mention how much help of their own the Colts got from the referees that year.

Every year we have another "greatest ever" top draft pick but the true QB that only comes once every decade or more, is a guy like Brady. And I'm just saying I'd rather have someone that turns out like him, NOT Manning, regardless of what position we draft him in. Jake Delhomme was 3 points from basically accomplishing the same thing Manning has over his career. The only thing that really matters. Winning a Superbowl.

Oh I agree that Brady is the best QB in the league right now. And I compare him more to Montana than any other QB. Montana was also drafted late, 3rd or 4th round I think. As was pointed out the comparison between Manning and Luck comes from the #1 projection not real abilities. But I would rather the Panthers take the chance, than pass on him and 10 years later, the 9ers or whatever team gets him has 2,3,4 championships. And all we have is our dick in our hands.

Well if what you said earlier was true, that Brady is "just a product" of Belichick(something you can say about every QB...ie Luck is Harbaugh's product, Manning is a product of years of great coaching throughout his family line, etc) then I would just rather have that "capability", coach or whatever it may be, to churn out these types of products. Then it really wouldn't matter who we draft or what round.

But I think there's more to it than just that. This is more of a personal belief and gut feeling, but in all honesty I think the truly great ones, like Brady or Montana, are simply too elusive for any scouting agent, fans, draft scheme, or college team to ever pick up on. These type of guys always seem to just "emerge" out of left field and I think it's always going to be like that which is why I don't get that excited about the number 1 draft picks.

I believe guys like Brady and Montana, are in a totally different league than your Mannings, Rothlesbergers, Flacos and Ryans. They posses an ability, or lets say a collection of intangibles, that the NFL scouting systems have yet to detect, or it could be perhaps because these intangibles don't even surface until after they start their careers as PROs.

I think one of the things that separates Brady from Manning that everyone is overlooking is the Patriots. While Manning did have an O basically built for him the Patriots as a team, irrespective of the QBs, seem to be perennially a better team overall. That in large part goes back to the HC. While I don't think Brady is a product of Belichick I do think that Belichick's teams helped him out quite a bit.

It's patently unfair to compare two elite QBs that are on different teams. We'd be lucky to have either (insert bad Andrew Luck pun here).
