Same.

I wish we had a quarterback I could be excited about. We haven't since Buerlein left.

Go back and look at the numbers and you will see that Steve had one good year for us. Other than 1999, Delhomme has better numbers, better success and has done a lot more than Steve ever did. I am A Beuerlein fan by the way and really hated we cut him. Still to consider Beurerlein excited and Jake not is revisionistic history at it's finest. Beuerlein never even had a winning season as our quarterback.

Lets see what our new quarterback coach can do before we decide we can develop a quarterback. Our track record before Moore was not very good. And we rarely kept them around long enough to develop them.

Just sayin.....

Exactly. Bad prospects that weren't given an opportunity to succeed. Randy Fasani.. ugh.

Anyway, I don't see why everyone is always going crazy over Matt Moore. I'd almost bet my entire life on the fact that right now, Jake is a better QB than Matt Moore. There's a chance he'd come out next year and go lights out, but that chance is very small.

Moore has a chance to succeed because he has the potential to be a good starting QB, along with being coached up well, and not being thrown to the wolves immediately. He was given a small taste a year ago, when he relieved Carr and Testeverde near the end of the season, but if Moore is ever going to be a capable starting QB in the NFL, he's going to probably need another season or two at the least.

I agree that Moore is not ready yet but he does seem to possess the intangibles to play at this level. He looked good at times with a pared down scheme and would do even better with a good running game. I have hopes that he can develop and eventually be a starter. The best thing we can do is continue to ease him along and give him time to develop.

No, he doesnt. Moore's potential is as a practice squad player, emergency 3rd stringer, but much more likely bench warmer in Canada.

Did you think Jake had the potential to be a starter when he went undrafted and played in NFL Europe?

You can't say Moore has what it takes to be a starter in this league, just as you can't say he doesn't have what it takes. The jury's out.

But if his performance last year against three playoff teams is any indication, I'd say it's worth giving him a shot.

No. I speak off watching him in college(2 of the 3 he played at), he was mediocre in those 3 games at the end of last year, and watching him be beyond awful in the pre-season this past season. Moore simply lacks the talent to play in the NFL. I didn't watch Delhomme in college, Sun Belt games werent exactly on all that often.

Matt Cassel looked shitty in the preseason as well and he never even sniffed the starting role in college. Come on now. When a guy has pro experience, I think it's more prudent to go off that than some college games 2 years ago. I thought Moore did a fine job in his 3 games in 2007. The kid didn't even have a TC with Carolina.

BMJS for sure. Me too at this point. I think he did exceptionally well given the circumstances in 2007. I expect he put too much pressure on himself in pre-season trying to build on last year and really benefitted from another year watching. I think he will be much improved this preseason.

You watched Moore in college? What games did you watch? What was the 3 colleges he went to and played football? If you watched him play in college you'd know he has the talent to play in this league. I know he has all the tools but I don't feel like listing them and all the examples of them but I want to post a question to you, have you ever seen this kid throw the 18-25 yd out/comeback? He fires that thing on a frozen rope from the opposite hash (college hash, further than NFL) like its nobody's business.

Moore will be a starter in the NFL, probably a pro bowler, and will win a super bowl, sadly, just not with the Panthers it looks like

Oh, please. Pro-Bowl starters don't sit on the bench for years behind veterans who can barely patch together a consistent season.

Jake isn't the answer, and Matt sure isn't either.

    • Him and Sanders are the only QBs I would consider in the first round. I won’t be upset if we take Sanders, unlike some people on the board. Both have potential to be really good NFL QBs if the teams can develop them.  But as we have seen teams are not willing or are unable to now properly develop rookie QBs.
    • I remember the last time we had a Cam at QB in Charlotte
    • Because Young is so historically bad that it just skews too far outside the normal deviations that perspective is easily lost. That or they just don't want to believe it.  The struggles last year would have been more about the infighting and poor roster building or idiot owner's hiring practices than with Stroud. He wouldn't have been as good but he wouldn't have been ruined here and the pressure was not Carr-esk if you take out the Young created portion from his playing style.  Dude is a young guy on a team coached by a Defensive guy building a good D but not building up the O in year 2 of his HC 1st time gig. Seems familiar... Go look at his output this year and not just some crappy Thursday night implosion game, I would take that in a second and never ever look back every time without a shred of doubt while eating 4 of those games a year with a giant smile on my face.
