Is Moore the future?

So if Moore or Baz was the QB of the Pats last season, you feel confident they would have had the same similar season Cassel did? System or no system, without damn good skills you'll fail. The Patriots coaches are not Gods...stop treating them as such. Baz would have failed in NE, Moore would've actually been good, but not as good as Cassel was. Why is everyone afraid to admit Cassel is a damn good QB? You DON'T have to want him here. You can love on Jake all ya want and hope Moore works out. That's great. But stop doing a disservice to Cassel because he played under "the world's best system that could work with a damn girl scout as the QB".

Cassell started horrible. Once he got comfortable he got better. The dude has been in that system for years, practicing behind Brady. The dude had never been a starter in his life and you're saying it's all due to skill? I'm saying he had a great supporting cast, so you don't disservice that. Don't think it was ALL him, making each and every play. He's a good qb, I'm not saying he's not, I'm saying the risk is there. Like i said, He may or may not be good in our system, unless you have a reading disability and you didn't catch that.

whatever "IT" is that he proved to you guys that he has, what else, if any, has he proved to convince you he's going to be as good as Jake or better?

But then, who's to say that a girl scout wouldn't have played as well? You? I'm not saying that Cassell wouldn't be good here and I'm not saying that Moore is the answer here. But to dismiss Moore out of hand when he hasn't had anywhere near the time Cassell had in his system and automatically choose Cassell as the savior here is just as silly as those saying that Moore is the savior and dismiss Cassell out of hand...

He hasn't proved anything. My point is that he deserves as much of a shot as anybody else at winning the starting job, precisely because Jake, love 'im or hate 'im (and I personally do like Jake!) has shown that his best years may, MAY, be behind him. No one, on our present roster, free agent, or potential college pick, will prove anything until given a chance.

If anyone thinks that signing an established superstar may be an answer, just take a look at Favre this year. Yes, the Jets had some success, and were in the playoff hunt until late in the season. But that pedigree alone couldn't get it done, it takes a slew of elements to make success happen, i.e., proper systtem to develop in, good supporting cast, chemistry, etc. etc. And the Jets coach ended up canned after all that..

But that pedigree alone couldn't get it done, it takes a slew of elements to make success happen, i.e., proper systtem to develop in, good supporting cast, chemistry, etc. etc. And the Jets coach ended up canned after all that..

Favre is a terrible example. He's even older than jake, and sure, he had a good start, but he faded down the stretch when the AFC East came down to the wire and the Jets ended up on the short end. Favre's arm got tired and he couldn't make a good throw. Now he's torturing Gang Green with his annual bullshit retirement saga.

Jake has shown signs that his time to retire is coming up shortly, but with Fox's general "ho-hum"-ness about his QB situation, it seems like he's content with watching Delhomme regress to the point the pass offense is unproductive.

I at least want to see Moore get his shot before anyone else does. Jake has got to spread the ball around some more and thats one thing I like about Moore at least he will spread it around.

Where's there a future in Favre? There's no future in him, he is nobody's long term answer because he's too old. The focus of the thread is "who is going to be the future signal caller?"

Did you know the other two guys you mentioned, Jake and Warner? Yea, both gained playing experience in NFL Europe. That, I think, was a crucial piece of their development. Well there isn't an NFL Europe you can farm QBs in anymore, and since those two, nobody else has emerged the same way.

Mintal, get with the program. Our only real hope as a franchise is to promote a fairly inexperienced OC to head coach and dump half our starters in favor of the people on the bench who just need a chance. That's the path to success, and it certainly worked for

Too early to tell, but I believe he can be. The guys responded well to him, he handled the spotlight well, and maintained his compsure during his first starts. He can make the throws required of him, and isn't afraid to put the ball in where it needs to go, so I'm hopeful and believe he just needs time to fully pick up the system.

I remember Moore's first pass in the NFL, a 45 yard strike into coverage to Colbert. When he gets back to the sidelines, Jake says, "you know that I've run that route hundreds of times and never thrown that pass". Moore just looks at him and says, "he was open". I'm willing to give Moore a chance...
