Jerry Richardson is a bad owner

top dawg

heh, so much is so wrong in that text, from the idea that he doesn't want to win(having spoken to JR he does), to the fact they think he gutted the team to purely to be cheap (did they even listen to him? I know he rambled a bit but come on), to us not paying Julius Peppers (How long have these guys been fans?), to the idea "history" tells us he doesn't pay a coach (I guess nobody told them how much Fox made).

These guys are ill informed and sound like they're just trying to catch in on the "LOL his press conference was terrible cause he is" craze that's been going around lately.

JR isn't exactly good with the media, but he's pretty damn good with fans.

Those PSL owners that called in should try emailing or calling the team. They might be surprised by what happens.

also, I think JR's statement about how the fans didn't want ticket increases etc so he didn't want to have two coaches on the payroll was not the only reason he retained Fox. He thought Fox could do more, and he even allowed Fox to go look for other jobs. I also suspect JR had the kind of relationship with Fox where he wanted to let him work out his contract, and still had some hope he'd turn things around.

Just look at how Richardson has basically said that he is going to get an assistant on the cheap.

He said that they have done well in the past with hiring coaches who have previously been an NFL assistant. He did indeed make it seem that he would prefer to hire another assistant. This is no way means he is going on the cheap or will hirer the assistant willing to take the least amount of money.

The vast majority of successful coaches in the league today were assistants prior to landing their jobs. Their rational for JR being cheap isn't based on "history" it's based on a knee jerk reaction to this previous year.

Mav unfortunately you can't take his word for it because actions speak louder than words. You need to be a better consumer than that.

If you're buying a car from me and you ask me "How does this car ride?" my answer is going to be "So smooth you'll feel like you're on a cloud!" even though it might be terrible.

He's trying to sell you something and isn't going to cheapen that at all by saying he's not trying to win.

Not saying he's a bad owner, but just because he says something doesn't make it true. Unfortunately for us, perception is reality and for good HCs, FAs, and possibly Luck, this could hurt us.

They didn't say he doesn't want to win, only that he is trying to do it in a way that may alienate fans (particularly PSL owners).

As for Pep...they should have gotten something out of the face of the franchise, and one of the most talented DEs in the league.

That's a terrible comparison. What has he done the vast majority of his time as owner? Did he have a year like this EVER before? I know he didn't always make the "popular" decisions with the fans but he hasn't been outrageously stingy with cash. If Luck is stupid enough to decide JR doesn't want to win games based solely on this year then he's just not as smart as people have said.

JR may not throw all the money he can at a position, but the idea he's going for a coordinator because he only wants to pay a small amount is idiotic and shows a lack of thought. The idea that he wants to build through the draft in coming years means he won't sign ANY free agents is also equally ridiculous.

Look, if going into next year JR lays off more of our talent and just keeps replacing them with draft picks, then I think some of these freak outs may have some merit. But for now, they're fretting over something that was an abnormality based on his past decisions.

LOL. Only sports gig in town. I'm too cheap to buy sirius.

I live in this town.. at 4pm, you should be hurryin up to get off work.. count to 100,000.. google thumb wrestling techniques.. find something to compliment every person you run into and then go find people..

or turn on that horrible excuse for a show out in Charlotte..

the last thing you should do is degrade yourself by turning on Gold and Ovies..

A source close to the situation confirms they are 2 pricks with a chip on their shoulder..

but seriously, they never come with accurate information.. it's all hate, hate, hate, hate, hate..

btw, this thread has been covered today..

Uhh, what? That doesn't make sense. Winning is winning. You mean fans would rather he throw endless supplies of money at the team until it wins? That... doesn't work in this sport. All but the best teams need to reload from time to time. Either he's doing what is best for the team or he's doing what is best for his wallet, from what those guys were saying, and I don't think that his actions were for his wallet. =P

They had no options with Pep, he forced his way out. They tried to sign him and trade him the year before and he refused to sign the franchise tag until it was too late to do very much at all with him. The year before they had wanted to make him the highest paid defensive player in the league if memory serves. Ultimately Peppers wanted out and he wasn't going to get much value because everyone KNEW he did.
