What are the chances of Luck pulling an Elway?

Not really. Elway had baseball to fall back on. Luck signs or he sits for a year then re-enters with no guarantee the 49ers are in position to grab him again.

As bad as last year was, this team is nowhere near the graveyard that was the Baltimore Colts in 1983.

They only had 3 total wins the two previous season before Elway entered the draft and they hadn't had a winning season in 5.

and St. Louis was 6-42? over the last 3 years and almost made the playoffs due to Bradford... this is a different nfl... teams change very quickly esp with a top tier qb...

'83 was a long time ago, bad teams like the Colts were doomed to be bad for a long time because there was no such thing as free agency.

The funny thing about the Eli situation is that San Diego ended up with a much better QB.

if luck doesn't wanna play, the panthers will still draft him and rob a team blind in a trade. Secondly, the panthers have a very very good reputation around the league as a quality and classy organization. The media's bias and dishonest reporting isn't going to deter luck at all. His family is in the business and im sure will have knowledgeable people assure him the panthers are a good organization to go to. Then again, if he has elway filling his head with BS who knows...

true, Luck doesnt come across as a diva and Harbaugh doesnt come across as a guy who would tamper, anyways, Elways didnt want to go to Baltimore because (his reason) of family. As for Manning, he acted like a spoiled brat and now all of San Diego hates him and (add to that) he's on a team that has missed the playoffs for two years in a row and is looked at as the 3rd best QB in that draft and is now overlooked (at times) by Mark Sanchez and had only one guy attend his press conference after the Eagles game.
