You shouldn't cast stones at JR for "being cheap"

Fiametta over Hoover, Godfrey/Martin over Harris, Lewis was a rotational guy at best and Kemo was a goner after that injury regardless, Diggs easily replaced,

you really don't think those are upgrades?

Moose could have been nice.. Peppers was gone anyhow..

Moore should have been a good replacement to Delhomme.. and don't tell me Delhomme would have made us go 8-8..

We won 2 games and we lost 14 games and we got our A$$ kicked in most of those games. Thats all the proof I have to show ya.

oh, Delhomme beat us in Cleveland.

He raised ticket prices twice in 4 years.

I'm ok with raising ticket prices, but did you think getting rid of HOOVER,HARRIS,LEWIS.KEMO,DIGGS,PEPPERS,DELHOMME,MOOSE(RETIRED) ,and replacing them with rookies was going to give us any chance at a good record this season ?

Aside from Harris (which I disagreed with given the youth and modest salary) and Peppers, where are the rest of those guys? Certainly not on flights to Hawaii the Sunday before the SB I'll tell you that.

Cleveland beat a few teams.. with or without Delhomme.. some with a rookie QB..

none of that really proves those old players who we had good backups to fill their role would have proven a better result..

what we did gain is experience for the yonger players.. and you're proof really doesn't tell me anything..

Steve Smith will miss that flight too ,because we didn't try to sign anyone last off season to help him.

we actually had a previously successful QB in Moore and drafted another QB in the 2nd round.. we drafted 3 WRs, 2 of which will be solid contributors in the future, and were this year..

how exactly didn't we try? I wish we went for Bolden or Marshall.. but what else would you have liked to see?

poo didn't turn out as expected.. so what, move on.. we're in a good position now with a highly talented team with just a few holes to fill.. and a new coaching staff to hire, to rid us of the days of Foxball..

and none of those players you mention we dropped are worth a damn...

We have to get better because we can't get any worse.

So you're ok with JR raising the ticket prices this season on the PSL holders and giving them an inferior product?

He put half the team on IR this season too.

Do you have season tickets ?

I don't have season tickets... whether I do or not doesn't change anything I have presented to you for you to dissect and point out where I'm wrong..

did you not read anything I wrote pre-season starting? you do realize he's only raised ticket prices 2 times in the last 4 years... (1 time in the last 3 years prior to this year) while upgrading the stadium.. whether you agree or not, these are additional stadium costs..

everyone went IR laaaaaaaate into the season.. hardly an interesting point you raised.. once it was obvious the season was over, why not?

I really want to know what you would have done different?

D Williams went on IR early for a sprained ankle..WOW

Everett Brown sprained his wrist..Done

I'm going to agree with you on one thing before I have to go and that is we are both Panther fans and I'm looking foward to next season too.

See ya

I don't see JR as being cheap. I heard his comment about the CBA negotiations where he said that the players union lawyer walked in and said (paraphrased) we want more money and better benefits, now lets negotiate. JR saw this coming and positioned himself accordingly last year. This is a business and his primary goal is to make money. It is going to hurt him having a team that sucks ass this year in sales of merchandise and such, but look at how people are drooling over drafting Luck. How many Luck jersey's do you think he'll get merchandising income from?

The truely sad part of all of this is, even if you give players a 100% raise, most of them will still be broke 5 years after they retire. JR owns the team and it's his decision how he wants to run the team. If players don't want to play for him, they don't have to. There are options for them. As consumers of the Panthers franchise, we have options also. We can not show up for games, sell our tickets or PSLs, etc. I know those that bought PSLs don't want to see JR being "cheap," but they bought his product and into his management of the Panthers franchise. The only options for the truely disgusted is to sell their PSLs and stop buying merchandise or wait until the Panthers boom again and sell high to prevent being in this same situation again

I don't think JR is cheap overall. However, he said he lost faith in our coaching staff but didn't fire them because he didn't want to pay two coaching staffs. Yet he payed Jake 13 million (I think but don't remember if it was exactly that) to play for the Browns. In that particular instance, I can understand him being called cheap.

I may be mistaken, but I believe the logic behind Jake and others was that if you cut them before the season started, they're only on the books for this season. Whereas if he kept Jake he'd pay him next year too. I believe that was what was happening behind the dumping of contracts/players.

We'll see. This franchise has recovered from worse with a high draft pick and new coach. No reason why it can't happen again.

Best case scenario is a CBA gets done, we get Luck for cheap and have plenty of cap room to build talent around him.

Worst case scenario we all die in December of 2012 so who gives a poo about football.

If he cut the coaches wouldn't he also only have to pay them for this season?
