You shouldn't cast stones at JR for "being cheap"

It's really easy to throw stones and say who is being cheap and who isn't when you're not the one writing the seven and eight figure checks.

I bet 99% of you harping on JR for "being cheap" won't tip your waiter more than 15% even if the service is excellent, the food is great, and you just got your paycheck.

Maybe this isn't new thread worthy, but some of you guys are being ridiculous with this crap. Flame away.

Here's the way it was delivered to me. JR raised the price on all 4 of my season tickets this past year about $8 each.(I'm forced to buy the tickets each year or I loose my up front PSL money) He cut all the quality players and didn't sign any quality FA. We go 2 and 14 on the season.

I normally tip the 20% for good service and %25 for great service.

The entertainment cost me $3580.00 just to get in the door and I went to every game.

How much MORE should I tip JR for the $HIT he served me this year.

also, I'm 100% with the OP, people need to stop calling the guy cheap already. he's being smart with his money.

And you can't tell me that Fox did his best job of coaching this year, if he had even remotely given a poo we'd have been much more competitive. When you start putting guys on IR for broken toenails (exaggerated example!!!!) something is wrong.

see.. I think this is where people disagree.. you think he cut all the quality players.. I think Peppers was the only quality guy that left.. the problem you should have is he didn't bring in any FAs, because quite frankly, he did a good job by giving the younger guys who are just as talented a chance to play..

with the cba coming up, I find it hard to believe 2 FA's would have changed your minds and I also find it hard to believe any of you think it is a good idea to resign our core players before the CBA is reached.. although I think we did miss out on a quality WR this off-season..

because while other owners upped their prices in previous years, he didn't.. it just so happened that he did this year when everything went downhill..

if he doesn't in years past, he's a good guy. the one time he did, people forget the years before he didn't..

The rough fact of this is if we meet some combination of the following circumstances:

~ The young players were a little better than they are

~ The team had developed a successor to Delhomme before he turned into bad Delhomme permanently and thus we had a decent QB

~ We have solid coordinators with bright minds instead of (what appears to be because the O and D never changed much here no matter who the coordinator was) coordinators who did what they were told

we are probably not be having this conversation at the level we're having it. Basically if we hadn't sucked Jerry looks like a proactive owner who's trying to help his team. I am NO FAN of the product that was put on the field this year but the amount of rancor most people have at the moment (up to and including declaring JR cheap) has more to do with the way the team played than what he did IMO.

He should have done some things differently but I'll maintain that the reasoning behind it was solid (even if the execution left a lot to be desired and it turned out to be a gross miscalculation)

1 year out of 15 in the middle of the worst economy any of us has witnessed personally does not a cheap man make IMO.

of course the CBA had something to do with it.. that doesn't mean 2-14 was anything close to the expectation before the season..

Can't deny he was cheap last year, but given our cap situation and the lack if consequences for dumping contracts it was a very smart move.

I'm ok with raising ticket prices, but did you think getting rid of HOOVER,HARRIS,LEWIS.KEMO,DIGGS,PEPPERS,DELHOMME,MOOSE(RETIRED) ,and replacing them with rookies was going to give us any chance at a good record this season ?

Fiametta over Hoover, Godfrey/Martin over Harris, Lewis was a rotational guy at best and Kemo was a goner after that injury regardless, Diggs easily replaced,

you really don't think those are upgrades?

Moose could have been nice.. Peppers was gone anyhow..

Moore should have been a good replacement to Delhomme.. and don't tell me Delhomme would have made us go 8-8..
