Jason LaCanfora thinks the Panthers have "a trick up their sleeves"

We will know whether we have a shot at Andrew Luck in exactly ten days.

There will be a lockout effective immediately after March 3rd, and this will HELP in the negotiation of a new CBA. Nothing meaningful between the union and the owners will happen before that time, but the rhetoric will step up in the media.

The Panthers will not reach a contract agreement with a new head coach until after the new CBA is set in stone,

This is a problem for the Panther-Luck relationship, because it would be highly uncharacteristic of Jerry Richardson to sign a rookie to a 30-50 million dollars-guaranteed contract, Despite what you may hear in the media soon, Rob Ryan is also not in the running.

Why would Richardson pay Luck $50 million guaranteed?

1. He wants to win more than the other owners.

2. He is no ordinary rookie and can turn this program around like he did Stanford's program. I would not take anybody's entire draft for him. He makes lower paid, first contract players better.

3. The franchise would have a face, an ambassador that will generate income in ways people have not comprehended.

4. He is a high-character guy and there is no risk of a character-related scandal or issue. He will fill the seats. He will generate millions for the local economy. Do you think Peppers had that impact on the win percentage or the economy? He paid him $1 million per game.

To me, this would be a great investment for the team. Do you think Indianapolis would advise us to trade the pick or pay him, based on thier experience with Manning. Heck, they could pay his salary on his jersey sales alone.

As much as I'd like there to be some big surprise hire at the end or a candidate they've kept under wraps I really just don't see it happening.

Here's to hoping though - otherwise we'll have to hope for the best of a list of candidates none of us would have picked on our own.

Maybe the Ace is Harbaugh, they sure went out of their way in the press conference to make it clear they were not interested and hadn't spoken with him... like they didn't want to tip their hand and cause SF or anybody else to up the anty.

It'd be nice, but I think that ship has sailed.
