From this day forward, I suspect Danny Morrison will do everything in his power to talk JR out of having another press conference. JR is a smart man and I trust him, but a press conference is clearly not his forum.

That's why Hurney was so nervous at the beginning. JR even called him out on it

If I was the Panthers PR man, I would attempt to do damage control by having a "town hall" type meeting with fans where JR can clearly demonstrate that his venom yesterday was intended specifically for the media, not the fans.

He's got his work cut out for him. Fans want a winning football program. The same reason they told Brees/others to stfu when they did the 1 finger thing at the opening game...they feel the same when a billionaire owner is attempting to explain why he allowed bad goods to be presented to the shareholders (PSLs/fans).

When he mentioned the 5th highest coach salary...the $11.5 million number. Was he talking about the total coaching staff salaries combined or what John Fox's buyout would have been?

He said coaching staff, so I assume he meant the entire coaching staff.

Which, honestly, is a little misleading the way he led it to sound. He almost made it sound like the only options were keeping everyone or firing everyone.

And hell, he paid Jake Delhomme 12 million to gtfo, why didn't he pay Fox to do the same?

Did you see Hurney and Morrison's faces? They were shocked, horrified. It was obvious that they met before the Presser and JR had been on a rampage.

TIMING--It was awful. I wanted an apology more than anything else. Instead, I watched him use his power to scold the media, saw a pie chart, and watched him dote on a 30 year old babe. Luck says he turns off ESPN when he is on; I hope he doesn't watch this. Maybe we didn't recognize the humor, but do we know him well enough to?

...because the media aren't proxies for the fans, or anything...

That press conference couldn't have gone worse.
