It was just part of his "setting the tone." He wanted it intimidating to set the stage for what he wanted to discuss and ONLY what he wanted to discuss and how he wanted to do so...

You can't get more "f*ck you" IMO than what JR was yesterday... How does that make people feel when you're trying to do your job and ask questions, yet the guy answers what he wants, cuts it short, questions who you are, your credentials, and if he knows you, cracks a joke, and then tangents onto something entirely different while smiling at you.

I'd rather people talk trash to me angry, not smiling in my face, because it means they know you can't do anything about it.

Pretty simple. The point of the press conference was to speak to fans, via the media, to let them know that things are under control and will get better.

Except most people, mainly the media, came away with an entirely different view, and outside of this board, the casual fans who either didn't watch or didn't have an opinion from the presser are going to look at the Rick Bonnells and Chris Mortensens of the world, see their opinion, and then come to the conclusion that we still have an out of touch cheapskate owner who seems to have lost his grip on reality.

Whether or not that's ultimately the case is yet to be decided, but that's definitely the current perception.

So if you think JR just "played" the media with his country dumb demeanor, you're the one getting played.
