Well, I got tired of looking at all the other threads that have been going on lately.

So, lets talk about an integral special teamer with a contract up: Jason Kyle.

Even if we pay him the vet minimum, it'll count a good bit against the cap. Do you think we should resign him, or let him go? I mean, I sure someone else can take over the long snapper duties.

Every year some moron (not necessarily calling you a moron) makes a thread about us cutting Jason Kyle because some doofus once long snapped in pop warner.

He's been one of the most consistent, accurate and dependable long snappers in the business.

He is what can only be called a metronome. There shouldn't be any chance he goes ANYWHERE. You want to cut costs, restructure Lucas and cut Hacket.

Oh, interesting fact: Ryan Pontbriand of the Cleveland Browns has the distinction of being the highest-drafted long snapper in the history of the NFL Draft. He was drafted in the fifth round of the 2003 NFL Draft by the Browns.

I think its time to get Hangartner, Barnidge, or Kalil some time at long snapping since they actually play another position and don't take up a roster spot for someone else..say a 4th reciever or something like that.

750,000 grand isn't that bad for one player, if the team is willing to bring in a guy to do kickoffs so they can keep kasay, I don't think they are going to let an excellent long snapper go just to save a few hundred grand

Having a center playing long snapper is NEVER a good idea.

Adam Treu did it for 10 years for Oakland. He was a back up center, but started 44 games for them when their starter went down.

I would say that's the exception and not the rule...it's surprising how so many great athletes can so rarely be good at long snapping.

Ask any coach and a dependible longsnapper is a huge part of special teams and more than worth a roster spot. I say re sign him.
