how? he's a 3-4 DC
Ron Rivera was a 4-3 guy before being hired by the Chargers. Has it affected the 3-4 defenses he has coached with the Chargers? Some can argue they were even better than his 4-3 defenses he coached.

Mike Tomlin was a 4-3 guy before he was hired by the Steelers to be their HC. Has their defense fallen off? Nope, yes their defensive coach was retained, but the point is the same.

My point is, a coach is a coach. Whether he prefers 3-4, or 4-3, it doesn't matter. He'll either be a good coach, or he won't. Pretty sure they have already proven to be good coaches, just haven't had their chances at HC yet.

Ron Rivera is the best 4-3 DC in football. I think it wasn't that hard for him to adjust to a 3-4 (also playing in one helps too). Just like Lebeau probably wouldnt have a hard time to adjust to a 4-3. This guy Manusky who hardly anyone has heard of however? Im only addressing calling the defensive plays as a DC btw because I quoted Scott after he mentioned Manusky as a possible DC for us. Mike Tomlin doesn't call the defensive plays in Pitt. Lebeau has full reign of that.

I feel like our hiring for a coaching staff just went to the presidential nomination, the lesser of 2-5 evils.

I'm desperately hoping we're keeping the real candidates under wraps. The guys being interviewed here fill me with absolutely no confidence at all.

No please no, reading the 49ers boards this guy sounds like a Fox wannabe.

I don't think he is qualified yet. It's hard to tell if it was him or Singletary playing this prevent bend don't break defense. We lost a lot of games on the last drive of the game with the prevent.

sure hope he gets it

he contributed greatly to at least 4 of our loses this year

I think his defence has run it's course here

the cover 4 bend but dont break type of defence has run it's course here in san fran.

LOL....WOW this would be a mistake! Fingers crossed....TAKE HIM!!!...wow Manusky ran a SUB-PAR D and has shown no ability to create effective game plans, even with some talent on D, not to mention he never makes mid game adjustments when it is obvious the current game plan does not work.

Huddle members requirements for new HC:

Must be offensive-minded (reason being that John Fox was defensive minded so therefore our next coach must be offensive or else he sucks like Fox).

Must have a very aggressive coaching style (reason being that John Fox was conservative so therefore our next coach must be aggressive or else he sucks like Fox).
