This is kind of what I expected.

The last time they did coach interviews, the majority were names most people didn't know. John Fox was one of them. Most fans had no idea who John Fox was before he was interviewed. Nobody really even had an opinion on him, until he made the motivating speech during the Press Conference that introduced him.

They are going to interview guys like this.

I also expected the huddle to ever react.

As the majority of the huddle already has their minds made up on who they want/don't want. And most people don't want any coach they have to say "who?" to.

That doesn't mean that they can't do a good job, but it does mean that there will continue to be bitter hatred towards the front office just cause the fans don't agree with them.

Right. We know nothing about the interviewees. Things like philosophy, discipline, work ethic, etc. are things that are difficult to see in stats. Too many variables. I think Rivera is the coach.

We may no want either. That's why they interview.

interviews are just a dude sitting there telling you what he thinks is going to get him hired. preeeeetty sure he's not going to say "i don't like to play aggressive." i hope the FO goes more by history and results than by how well he bullshits.

They look at everything.

When Fox came in, he had a plan in mind for how to turn the franchise around, and he outlined it in his interview. That's the kind of thing they'll expect.

That may also be why Rivera has yet to get a job despite nine interviews. he might not be as good with the "sit down' stuff as he is on the field. But if someone gives him a shot, who knows?

If Luck doesn't declare a Manusky/Clausen combo has a strong possibility for an epic fail. This season will be like a wet dream for JR if the next hire doesn't work out. He's taking a huge risk if he considers hiring this guy. A no name who produces no wins = no franchise.

I wonder if we plan on swiching to a 3-4 defense? We do have pretty good linebackers and maybe Everette Brown could change to a 3-4 pass rusher where he might be more successful?

Gotta love posts like this.

First of all, we are talking about interviews, yes, INTERVIEWS with possible HEAD COACHES!

Doesn't matter that he has coached both defenses before. Doesn't matter that the last defense he coached was a 3-4, as he won't be coaching the defense!

He may prefer one over the other, but at this point, it certainly does not matter, as it's an interview. And the decision to change base defense will be a decision made by the front office also.
