"listen assholes YOU DON'T MAKE LIES ABOUT ME AND DON'T REPORT STUFF I DON'T WANT YOU TO OR I WILL KEEP TALKING TO YOU LIKE CHILDREN. Now if you look at this circle i've drawn...."

Does the Local Charlotte beat writing media have a spot for their signature on the CBA?

Does the Local Charlotte beat writing media have a spot for their signature on the CBA?

if you don't understand this temper tantrum he had made him look juvenile in front of the media, and any reps from the NFLPA in an otherwise good, composed presser then this is probably well beyond the reach of your psyche

Anybody want to tell me how showing disdain for faulty reporting and shoddy sourcing in anyway affects the CBA process?

It doesnt. Because most of the fans dont care that JR called out the media, in fact a lot of them prolly find it hilarious. In the end, the fans still want to hear about their football team and as a result the writers are still going to have to write about it. And those that try to write derogatory or false things are going to bore & alienate their readers and might even lose their credentials all together if they take it far enough.

This event isnt going to causer the fans to rally behind the players union.

This was a no lose situation for JR and he knew it. The guy didnt get where he is by being a dumbass.

I have absolutely no issue with JR hating the media.

What was stupid was calling a press conference and then acting like an ass to everyone who had the temerity to ask a question. At a press conference.

The less insane would probably have just issued an official statement.

All those involved with the CBA would by this point have had enough face time with Jerry Richardson to understand what kind of person he is and would understand where he stands from a business position.

Most people who are privileged enough to have the press write articles about them generally take offense to false articles and sources.

The only people who would believe that this makes JR look juvenile are people looking to make a snap judgement.

He very well could have just ignored the situation. He decided not to, perhaps it wasn't the best thing to do for public opinion of him, especially for people like you, who view it was juvenile.

Regardless of that, it will in no way affect the CBA, because those involved have been dug into the proceeding well before today and understand where all those involved stand. This isn't a presidential race where propaganda commercials making disparaging comments about ones character or policy are going to sway votes.

lol

In a rambling and rare news conference, the 74-year-old co-chairman of the owners' negotiating committee painted a dark picture as the league moves closer to a possible lockout that could threaten next season.

"It's said to me when I meet with the union lawyers, they say, 'Mr. Richardson we want more money, more benefits and we want to work less,'" Richardson said. "Then they say, 'Let's begin the negotiations.'

"I'm not optimistic we're making a lot of progress."

While the players pretty much are not seeking increased benefits, only the status quo from the last deal in 2006, Richardson claimed concessions are needed. That's why the owners opted out of the collective bargaining agreement two years later.

no of course nobody substantial is making him look bad, just the official league website, i'm sure it's nothing too serious

i'm not arguing the guy has qualities which have made him as successful as he is. public relations is not one of his strengths however

It's not?

He personally responded to the emails and letters from concerned PSL owners and fans... and the ones he did not respond to he had the president of his organization take care of them. I'd say that's a pretty damn good public relations move regardless if you agree with what he told them. I bet you dollars to donuts that if you sent a letter of displeasure to the Bobcat's or any other for profit organization of the Panthers size or larger that the majority owner or president is not going to personally call you.

His calling out the media has nothing to do with a public relations blunder with the fans as the media are not the fans. He simply let us all know that there are things being reported which are bullshit and it's hilarious because just as recently as yesterday people like Darin Gantt were ridiculing people on twitter for questioning if he actually had sources on the Harbaugh situation. THAT is far more of a PR blunder than anything JR did today.

This press conference isnt going to suddenly rally the majority of fans to the players union side. That view from the fan perspective is likely unchanged and indifferent. A bunch of millionaires squabling over their money and possibly depriving us of our favorite sport.

i could've told you darin was a stupid asshole with no insight two years ago. nevertheless darin doesn't represent the owners, jerry does. and it doesn't scream good representation to me spending minutes ranting about the media, because they're not going to stop doing what they do. They're not going to not try to do their job anytime soon.

When you're trying to make a point about the CBA agreement it doesn't help get your point across when in the same interview you ripped a bunch of beat writers and media reporters who may or may not be idiots but nevertheless are dedicated enthusiasts of your team and keep a fanbase interested with a "DON'T QUESTION ME!!!" disposition

flies, honey, vinegar

Bull poo, it was awesome and needed. They are are a bunch of liars that make up 'sources' to guess at poo and they got beat down for it.

Good for Jerry!!!
