Harbaugh back to Stanford?

At this point my first thought is why in the hell any team would be prepared to fork over 7-8 million+ per year and extraordinary powers for an unproven college HC....maybe certain coaches have the ability to fill that role, but history says only a select few HOF caliber NFL coaches have pulled it off. It's the last situation this franchise needs now. Never mind Miami, SF and Denver. (won't happen since Elway is now in the mix)

Maybe this is why Luck came out today and said he was staying. Maybe he wanted to give Harbaugh something to think about and consider coming back to Standford for one more year; but wanted to give himself time before Jan 15th to change his own mind. I think there is a good chance Harbaugh stays now, but if it doesnt happen and decides and sign with somebody in the NFL quickly.... maybe Luck changes his mind and declares for the NFL draft by Jan 15th (one can hope on that last point, though its super highly unlikely)

Harbaugh may think he deserves a better package than Carroll because he owned him despite having a program with nowhere near the resources of USC.

Objectively speaking though, Carroll had two NFL head coaching stints and a national championship on his resume'.

Something tells me that I could offer him $100 and he'd tell Stanford and the 9ers to "Hold on, I have to listen to this offer out of respect" and be on the first plane to Charlotte in order to get the free McDonalds value meal I promised him.
