(Theory) Coach Cowher to be next Panthers head coach

Do we actually know that Hurney is going to be GM still. Who knows' date=' he may go back to his old salary cap role....[/quote']

Hurney is not currently under contract.. however, I expect him to sign a contract very soon. In what capacity, I am not sure. I would expect Cowher to want some sort of say on player personnel. If we have anyone other than Cowher, I expect Hurney to be our GM with all the same responsibilities.

Cowher wanted to coach the Panthers last year.

I dont know how many people remember this but for like a week or so last season Cowher spoke about how he wanted to get back into coaching. Then JR came out in the media saying how Fox was coming back the next year and all of a sudden Cowher said he was going to keep his position at CBS for the time being. We missed that train

Houston is the best place for Cowher if Kubiak gets fired and he'll probably take that job. No big name wants to coach the Panthers

This is dumb.

Fox was under contract for another year. JR didn't bring him back, he just allowed him to finish his contract.

And you are suggesting that Cowher really wanted to come here last year but is in a tiff now because JR didn't fire Fox and bring him in?

It doesn't work this way

When all he had to do was fire him (which most people thought was going to happen) and hire a new coach.

And yes I am. Last year we werent the laughing stock of the league. Now we are. The Raiders arent the butt of the jokes, we are. Few coaches are going to want to come into this situation

This mindset the Panther organization is a laughing stock and coaches, players are not going to want to come into "this situation" is absurd and not true. And the statement "this situation" is so vague and generic. There are ALOT worse places one can go and end up than here.

I don't believe he's saying Cowher is in a 'tiff'. I just believe he is saying that Cowher has legit interest in the Carolina Panthers and is not really interested in any other coaching position.

Wouldn't place any bets on Cowher even getting an interview.

Cowher is a guy who wouldn't get a 'formal interview' anywhere.. you don't really interview guys like him. You know what you are getting with him.

No he is saying Cowher wanted the job last year but because JR wouldn't give it to him he doesn't want the job anymore.

If this were the middle school prom it might make sense

You are right that wouldn't make sense.
