Harbaugh Leaning Towards NFL Per Schefter

I just peed a little.

Now this from Fowler's new article just posted on Harbaugh:

Yup, he has connections here. There is a chance, but I think it may be somewhat slim. It really depends. I think JR is aware of the hype about Harbaugh and Luck and I would not be surprised if he and Hurney aren't discussing this right now.

Also, the whole "we passed on Rodgers so we'll pass on Luck" thing is kinda weird. So totally different situations...

Yeah, kinda like when Aaron Rogers was sitting there and the Panthers took Thomas Davis.

When healthy, Davis is a good LB, Rogers, an all Pro QB, and will be for a long time. Some things never change.

A few other teams missed it with Rogers too. And Foxy did not like to draft a QB.

This is a new day.

"team source" supposedly is why ESPN is saying Harbaugh won't be getting an offer here. Wonder who or if it's just made up?

I honestly don't expect JR to go after Harbaugh, but I wish he would. It's not that I think JR is cheap or whatever, I just think he is too much in the "Win the way the Steelers do" mentality. He has to realize a break with that tradition would really energize this fan base. But I think he ultimately plans on winning a championship more than making a big splash with a big name hire and he probably thinks a coordinator is more likely to be capable of it... but all that is speculation so I hold out hope.

Where did you get that from? I mean, I'm sure like most national guys they say it came from a team source, but I never heard Schefter actually say it came from a source.

I think most of what Schefter says is pure speculation... throw enough crap at the wall and something will eventually stick.

I really want Luck, so I'm mostly interested in seeing Harbaugh leave Stanford because that will most certainly cause Luck to leave for the NFL. Harbaugh in Denver would be interesting, because Denver holds the 2nd pick in the draft and Luck might pull an Eli Manning (or John Elway) on us. Elway would most certainly support this approach since he himself employed the same tactic by refusing to play for the Colts.

Don't mean to be a downer, I really want Luck but this whole Denver thing just crossed my mind... if Harbaugh goes to Denver I'm going to be really concerned about Luck.

Schefter on ESPN - but I can't find it in text so not sure if I misheard or what.

EDIT: Found it:

Despite the speculation, it will not be Carolina, according to sources. The Panthers are expected to move in a different direction that won't involve Harbaugh; they are likely to hire an established NFL assistant coach

Though in that one he just says "sources" so maybe "sources" didn't mean team sources but "poo I made up to throw at a wall." Also, he says Harbaugh won't want to go to SF.

Now wouldn't it be amusing if the Panthers refuse Harbaugh, Harbaugh refuses Michigan, Luck remains at Stanford and so does Harbaugh? It would make sense with our luck.

Wonder if the "team source" is John Fox. He has been speaking with all the outlets recently.

I love how when someone like Schefty says that Harbaugh isn't coming here, people jump on him but when someone says that Harbaugh is in the mix here, that person gets praised.

Fact is, this forum is so biased its ridiculous, its like fans want to hear what they want to hear and not take anything else seriously...

There are other candidates, you know? To say that none of them wouldn't be successful but Harbaugh will is stupid considering that like most of the candidates he hasn't been a HC in this league

Again college and pros are completely different levels

In his 15th and final NFL season as a quarterback, Harbaugh was a backup to Chris Weinke for the Panthers' 1-15 season of 2001.

"I didn't get in any games that year," Harbaugh told me Sunday. "I signed late, and they had eight games to go. I loved it - loved the coaches that were there and the organization. I especially loved throwing to Steve Smith. We were both on the scout team at that time. It didn't take me long to realize that he was really good. I just kept throwing the ball to him and we were making plays and having fun."

See, Harbaugh can get the ball to Smith. Sign him, damn it!
