Harbaugh Leaning Towards NFL Per Schefter

This. As Gantt said, Harbaugh is the 'belle of the ball' right now, and who wants to see her go home with Carolina? lol... not the nat'l media.

I'm trying not to buy into they hype and get my hopes up, but I'm really starting to connect some dots here... Think about this, we're the only organization who's owner Harbaugh is actually familiar with to my knowledge, even before all this "JR is cheap talk." By familiar, I mean that he actually worked for. We were the last team that employed him as a player, so he knows JR. Only organization he worked for after that is the Raiders.

So, in my mind, that gives us a leg up on the other teams pursuing him - familiarity.

Yeah and another thing, if the money is remotely similar, why in the hell would you go to SanFran with no QB worth a damn. When he could come here and have a kid that he PERSONALLY recruited.

I mean what better way to start your NFL coaching career than with a good organization, YOUR personal recruit and a player that you have called the best player in the country, and a team with talent at key positions, and finally and more recently, the ability to hire your own coaching staff.

It is all interesting speculation.

National media would love Denver or the 49ers, not Carolina, some things never change.

I think a lot of us remember when Spurrier was the hot new college coach and the number of new '#1 can't miss' QBs a mile long and remember Eli Manning thumbing his nose at San Diego and who now, would not take Rivers over Manning.

What will be in Carolina will be. I just don't see JR going against type, and I'm not talking about money.

It would be exciting to have Harbaugh/Luck; but, that is probably not is what is going to happen and the season comes regardless.

All good points BB... Like I said, I'm trying not to give into the dream, but I'm telling you there are too many signs. He compared Luck to his wife, lol... I mean, why NOT take the opportunity to continue to help him develop. And it's not a gimmick, the guy has coaching in his blood and knows what he's doing on any level AND played the position of QB himself (pretty well too if you asked me).

I don't want to be let down, but ultimately I AM hoping that finally all the stars will align for our team and something finally goes our way. I can see Harbaugh being a coach for the long-term, and Luck the same at QB.

I hope JR goes with the new era thinking this time...

I heard someone say on a game the other day, I can't remember if it was basketball or football but it holds true for either - they were talking about defense wins championships and one guy was like, "no, points win championships."

You can build up a defense, we've been doing it for years. It's time for JR to give the offense a look.

Yeah, kinda like when Aaron Rogers was sitting there and the Panthers took Thomas Davis.

When healthy, Davis is a good LB, Rogers, an all Pro QB, and will be for a long time. Some things never change.

Or like when NE picked Tom Brady in the 6th round. All the teams are dumbasses and NE were dumbasses 5 times.

I just peed a little.

Now this from Fowler's new article just posted on Harbaugh:

In his 15th and final NFL season as a quarterback, Harbaugh was a backup to Chris Weinke for the Panthers' 1-15 season of 2001.

"I didn't get in any games that year," Harbaugh told me Sunday. "I signed late, and they had eight games to go. I loved it - loved the coaches that were there and the organization. I especially loved throwing to Steve Smith. We were both on the scout team at that time. It didn't take me long to realize that he was really good. I just kept throwing the ball to him and we were making plays and having fun."
