On their boards they seem to think Richardson is going to draft defense with the #1 overall pick or he would be willing to trade it to Buffalo for the #3 and other picks so they can get Luck.

It all depends, it could very well be a good thing to take the trade if multiple junior QBs make the jump. I've yet to see luck play yet, so I'm withholding judgement until I can see him tomorrow night.

I think JR plans to switch to the 3-4, which is why Fox knew he was out the door a year ago.

I don't know how I would feel about a 3-4 D. IMO just another fad as both have their advantages and both require specific personnel. However, your post got me thinking, and I looked over scouting reports for the last three drafts as far as front seven

2008:

Dan Connor

Projected - ILB Either

Nick Hayden

Projected - DE 3-4 with 4-3 DT potential

Hilee Taylor

Projected OLB 3-4

2009:

Everette Brown

Projected OLB 3-4 with 4-3 DE potential

Corvey Irvin

Somehow no scouting reports for a 3rd rounder, but size (6-3 304lbs) and speed (4.9 40yd) compares to most 3-4 DEs in upcoming draft

2010:

Eric Norwood

Projected OLB 3-4

Greg Hardy

Projected DE 4-3 with 3-4 OLB potential

Does this mean we are switching to a 3-4 D? Who knows? It could just as easily be us getting the smaller athletic guys to match Meeks' style of Tampa 2, or perhaps even more likely, a product of Hurney's propensity for taking BPA/conversion projects.
