Panthers interviewing Ron Rivera

Squirrel. I think we all know that. No need to mention it at every turn. It doesn't mean that we have to hire a person of color.

I'm just saying that this preoccupation with the Rooney rule on this forum seems kind of weird, and I would almost be willing to bet that out of all the team forums whose coaches won't be back, this one probably mentions it the most, and it's really unnecessary.

Well actually it is. Blame the NFL if it wasnt for the stupid rule more people would take the Rivera interview seriously. But I see your point but Im not going to police the board just because it is brought up.

I actually wouldnt mind Rivera as HC he has the experience and I like Defensive Coordinators as HC. They are usually more hardcore and will let you know whats on their minds.

I don't know much about him, but I'd take him over Grimm. After our experience with Fox, A converted DC just kinda scares the hell out of me. Foxballitis has taken its toll.

What's wrong with interviewing? It doesn't necessarily mean hiring. I'm sure (hoping at least) that JR is getting the jump start on interviewing coaches. We'll see if he hires Harbaugh immediately following the Orange Bowl in which I am now buying into the hope train that Andrew Luck and Harbaugh shine in their college farewell ;P

Though I think Tyrod Taylor is a pretty good player

from 2007

That's a lot of interviews not to get the job.

Bears defensive coordinator Ron Rivera, who has interviewed for nine head coach positions in the NFL over the past two years but landed none of them, will not return to Chicago.

Does this not raise any red flags people? Do you not have questions why he has made lateral moves instead of vertical moves up the coaching chain? How does one interview for 30% of the league's teams and not get a sniff of a HC position?

I no longer think we're going after Harbaugh at all, just this feeling... hopefully we'll at least take a look, but I think Rivera is a much more likely choice.

Wonder where the rumor got started if Hurney had nothing to do with it. Hmm.

edit: Gantt alleviates my concern about Harbaugh at least. He seems to be pulling hard for him. Probably wants to write about Harbaugh-Luck connection for years to come =p
