The Bills, 49er's, Rams, Browns, Cardinals, and Seahawks are all less talented than the Panthers are and have won more games.

You could probably also throw in the Lions and maybe even the Bucs. There is talent all over this team it is just not utilized properly.

those were the other teams I thought of but he only wanted 1 team.

It would be very difficult to name a team with less talent than the Panthers had this year. You would be lying to yourself if you did.

Hindsight please

I predicted 5-6 wins as did many others and that was based on Clausen being decent and a healthier team. Injuries and a bust in the draft kept us at 2 wins instead of 5 or 6. Big deal.

Really?

For the majority of the season you had an OL that includes a Pro-Bowl LT, one of the best young centers in football, a top 10 guard, and two young promising linemen.

The best RB tandem in the league and the best overall RB stable in the league. An All-Pro WR, two young WR's that need work but are promising. Young QB's, but one of which was very good at the end of the season last year and a promising QB from college.

On D, you had a WLB that is one of the best LB's in the league, a MLB and SLB that were playing lights out Pro-Bowl caliber D. A secodary that is talented. A DL that may not be flashy and without big names but was good enough and deep enough to get good play from.

This was not a SB team but there was no reason that this should be a 15 lose team. There were at least 5-7 wins available with this team. You are kidding yourself if you think otherwise.

I just posted this a few posts up. try to keep up. Yes JR put a 5 win team on the field. That is not good at all and should not be tolerated by the fans.

We were a 5 win team before injuries and what turned out to be a bunch of draft busts.

With the worst QB in franchise history, a banged up line and starting a 4th string RB at times we couldn't live up to our 5 win expectation.

Yeah all the coaches fault

Arguable. I think we were the least talented team. You want to argue that a bunch of other crap teams had less talent? I disagree but who cares. those teams are an embarrassment. I think the fact that our QB is the worst by far sticks us in the toilet bowl.

And the bucs are way out of our league from a talent standpoint. Don't confuse youth and talent.

If JR was cheap he wouldn't have paid Gamble and Gross the way he did, spent 16 million to rent Peppers for a year or given Jake a 12 million extension...

JR went cheap this year because of the threat of a lockout, why is that so hard for everybody to understand?

Go check out the NE Pariots and tell me that a good coach can't win with crap players. Half of the starters on that team are late round draft picks and undrafted FA.

Belicheck doesn't have crap players. he has some amazing talent and has managed to make some average players look great.

We are talking about one of the best coaches in history.

Keep some perspective.

Comparing this joke of a team to the freaking patriots?

What is your definition of "talent"?

I don't agree. The problems that were readily apparent in Week 2 were readily apparent throughout the year - poor playcalling, poor protection scheme (arguably hand-in-hand with the first one), poor QB play (arguably a big symptom of the poor protection), etc. Also, consdier the defnsive pattern all year - slow starts followed by about 2.5 quarters of tight play, ending with a cheap score or two at the end of games when the D was exhausted. Take away a cheap score on a winded D playing on short fields all game long, and in another 7 points per game on offense and the complexion of a lot of those games changes entirely.

Good coaches find ways to mitigate weaknesses when things go wrong, and this team would have benefitted hugely from a shift in passing philosophy to more of a West Coast type of scheme instead of doggedly sticking to the slow-developing vertical stuff. I honestly think that, with superior coaching, this could have been at least a .500 team even after the injuries.

Because we are not Dallas and the like. They don't want us to get the next best QB, they don't want us to get a top tier coach. They want to ingnore us all the way to LA.

So many posters have made the point that it is a quarterback league now; without a blue-chipper, you can't go far.

Most have concluded that Clausen ain't it. He has shown no progression in ability. Even with NO coaching, he surely (with his "pro-ready" background, lol) could have improved, even marginally, his skills with film study and practice. He should, just by repetition, have a better rapport with his primary receivers.

To say, therefore, that the head coach could have done better is somewhat absurd, unless you want him to go out and actually chuck the ball around.

Don't say he could have put better players on the field, because most have concluded that he didn't have control over that, either.
