Is Richardson going to go cheap and tank this offseason too?

We are all talking draft and I will get to that in a moment. I want to talk about the future of this franchise because as of Sunday Evening, it all changes, but how?

I said this offseason and all season long JR did it RIGHT so far....so far. No CBA, fine cut the damn salaries now when there is no cap, it was the right thing to do. Gut the team except a few guys to build around? Damn straight! No one knows what the new cap will be and JR has set us up to be well under it, not scrambling to redo overpriced vets or even cut them and take cap hits.

The question is, will he go cheap on us from here on out? As for as player salaries they are covered by TV contracts. Front office and COACHING is where I am concerned he won't spend the money. I am also very concerned he keeps Hurney in here that imho doesn't draft that well, hasn't done well in Free Agency AND has a bad habit of trading away valuable future picks.

JR has set it up where if he will spend the money in Free agency, spend the money front office and coaching wise, Draft well, this team is right back in it THIS year for at least a wildcard spot. Two offseasons and we can really contend if its done right.

As for as the draft, its Andrew Luck, no question. If Luck is there and we pass on him, or trade out, I for one am done. That shows me the front office is ran by idiots and this team is going no where. Clausen is nothing but a #2 in this league and this team needs a franchise QB to win, that is what the great teams do. (NE lucking into Brady being the exception).

Pray JR does it right starting Monday, if not this team won't see the playoffs for a decade at least. I know....my other team is the Bills so I have seen it first hand.

JR is a business man and an NFL owner with two goals, making money and winning a super bowl. I understand his actions for the past year or so and believe this off season will vastly different from last. JR is smart and knows if you stop winning, you stop making $$$$. Sure this season sucked donkey dick, but so did 2001. Here's to better days!

JR thought he could dump the baggage when it was free to do so and still win. Even though we didn't, he now has a lot of money to do some good things. He learned from this year, but I am not sure he would do it differently if he had to do it all over again. This season sucked, but he will now build a winner and spend the $ to do so. I think the Fox announcement is the first in several steps that will convince everyone that the Big Cat is back.

We are fortunate to have a businessman who was also a competitor. He has to make logical decisions in emotion-filled rooms. However, he is smart enough to know that emotion is what sells tickets. Re-read the letter he wrote. He answers this question. I am getting tired of it too, but we are all fans and all have insecurities. This board is for airing these feelings, so people who do not think like we do should not be discounted.

Yeah it's getting annoying as hell seeing people spout the same poo about Richardson being cheap.

It's even worse when its our own fans doing it. They should know better.

With the way some people are talking, you'd think we've a history of being cheap like the damn buccaneers.

Did you graduate 8th grade or is it genetics that keeps you from having decent reading comprehension? I praised Richardson all offseason and all this season for doing what he did. My question was this....will it continue?

It is a legit question. Until he actually spends we won't know. This is a new NFL and owners are going to get tight with the money, see his speech to fellow owners about taking their (the Owners) NFL Back.

We will see, I for one certainly hope he pays out the ass for a new front office and coaching staff.

Oh yeah! I made friends with a family I used to watch the games with in the early 90's. come to find out it was Jerry Crafts family. My wife and I went up to Buffalo in 93' and I was able to go in the locker room and sit with Jim Kelly for a short while and just talk. It was great. I have a game used ball signed in silver sharpie by almost the entire 93' team, the last one to go to a superbowl.

I chose the Panthers because it gave me a team that I could be a fan of from its 'birth'. Bill Polian taking over with Frank Reich, Pete M, and Don Beebe being here really helped as well.

We have literally no reason to believe the same thing that happened last year will happen again this year. It was a gross miscalculation on his part, even if the theory behind it was sound and it might turn out OK in the long run, and I highly doubt someone with the business savy he obviously has would further harm their brand.

There is a lot of pressure going forward. I think you have to at least listen to Harbaugh first, because if you don't, black, blue and silver people might storm the castle. Imagine this: He never offers Harbaugh an interview and hires Grimm, for example. Luck goes back to school. JR would have a major problem on his hands. He already sent PSL holders a letter that basically said the Big Cat is back.

This hire is a huge statement. I am sure he realizes what is on the table. The next two weeks are going to be interesting.

      Bryce put it in a spot only his guy could get it only for David Moore to drop it. T_T Tremble and Horn both struggled yesterday and that killed me since they're two of my favourite players. Tommy knows he has to come down with this one. Folks were understandably saying that JT would've caught that had he not gotten hurt a few plays earlier. The more I look at this play, the more I think that Bryce made the right decision throwing it out the back of the endzone. He could have tried to laser it in to Thielen, but that safety is lurking awfully close inside. Insuring the field goal here after a 44sec drive to end the half was the right move.

      NFL Pro has the All-22 up already 😄 Going to grab a play or two from each redzone series to put screenshots to. Looks like AT angled his route off to the near pylon rather than the back corner where Bryce was throwing to. I imagine this is something they'll quickly try to figure out with Thielen back from IR. After watching the All-22 again, this was actually a pretty nifty play. I thought it was a TE screen to Tremble because of the way XL charged the DB, but he quickly shed and kept upfield as seen in the second screenshot. This looks like it had multiple layers built into it with AT running the crosser, XL the fade, Tremble to the flat. The progression would call for the play to go to Chuba here as the LB does follow Tremble out into the flat. Ball hits Chuba low and in the hands, but the LB does a good job disrupting the catch.
