Yeah nobody was "fired" but I do find the timing of this announcement very interesting and I suspect it has something to do with trying to lure Harbaugh and therefore Luck out of Stanford...

Why are people constantly saying that Richardson doesn't have money to compete with SF? He's paying Fox 6.5 mil this season.

JR has the money to compete with anyone when he chooses too.

On top of that Harbaugh could go to SF with a mess at QB or he could come here and draft Luck.... hmmm, let's think about that.

He HAS to interview Harbaugh considering the draft situation. I wonder how many told him to hire Harbaugh at the bowl game yesterday?

From JR's perspective, his moves are as much PR as good business. He has to bring in Harbaugh to talk or his letter will appear to be nothing but words. You don't write that letter and then bring in some no name coordinator without considering public opinion and your draft status.

As far as I know being "fired" is a misnomer. They just announced that he and his staff will not be retained at the end of the season.

His contract was already set to run out.

You are correct. He was not fired, but told he would not be back. I suppose I jumped to conclusions because the timing of the meeting was odd.
