Yeah easy there buddy but forreal smitty is done with we need to trade him while we still can get a 4th or 5th round pick for him.

And we dont need him around if we do get a new QB smitty will just screw him all up.

Or.....and bear with me here.....maybe said QB will be able to throw the ball to a wide open WR. Be it Steve Smith, Brandon LaFell, David Gettis or whoever.....nah that couldn't happen.....this is all Smiths fault, fug that selfish bastard for wanting the ball when he's open and calling out his QB for pathetic football.....

Smitty is a win NOW player. Pointless having him spending his last few seasons breaking in rookie QBs. We could draft Luck and he could be the next Peyton.....I think Smitty will want to leave. Probably best for both sides. He is an awesome WR. He is NOT the type player you really want on a young team trying to build. He doesn't really bring all the other stuff you need from a vet WR to the table. He talks to the talk to reporters at times....but he isn't about helping any young players consistantly to get better.

How is Smith a cancer? He's done? How can you prove this? Smith has practically been our sole reason for success this entire decade. Smith gets open, teams still worry about him and players still respect his talent. He deserves more respect than that.

Aww boo hoo yea he gives Jimmy Clausen poo for paying like a baby what top WR in this league wouldn't? Jimmy was supposed to bring "it" to the table and so far he shown nothing, even being outperformed by his counterpart who he was suppose to replace. For all we know this could be another Dwayne Jarrett scenario. People were giving Smith hell because exposed Dwayne Jarrett. Well look what happened, he was right.

Look i loved steve smith when he was in his prime he could punch anybody or chew anybody out that he wanted because he was that good but.... now hes not i dont care who his qb is he has lost more than 2 steps in his game.

Or he has a QB that's incapable of getting him the ball in position to make plays. I saw Smitty running past defenders while Jimmy was looking to checkdown plenty of times this year.....

I know yall think i hate smitty but i dont but i just think the panthers are not the right team for him now he needs to move on.

And for what it's worth i think if smitty would have had a decent QB his whole career in carolina he would be a sure shot in the hall of fame but i think hes been screwed out of that.

I think Smitty could be moved to slot if #1 is too much for him/he has lost a step. However, he still gets doubled, so he is still a threat. I think if Armanti Edwards is to be saved, Smith will be the one to do it. Put them both in the slot and maybe Gettis steps up to assume the #1 role. Maybe he is not ready for that or will never be ready, but this is a way to keep Smitty a Panther and have him be productive in many ways.

People see the dropped passes and think Smith is done. Fast WRs tend to retire by age 33, so it is nearly time for him. However, he can give us 2 years and develop his replacement, I am all for him staying here. Besides, he will love LUCK. He is under contract for 2 years and has about 2 years left. Let him retire a Panther. If he wants out, grant his wish, but get something for him.

Kasay should probably be let go or he should retire. I don't think any coach wants to use up 3 roster spots with kickers.

Unless we can get a punter who can kickoff.

Good point. I have not read anything about Baker, but I noticed some terrible punts over the past few weeks. Either way, we are going to need a new kicker very soon.

With a new coach coming in, 2 roster spots for K might mean we bring in a younger guy. Sunday could be Kasay's last game. I have not heard this, but it is common sense.

Not only is he a class act, but a lot of people don't realize that Kasay is Steve Smith's best friend on the team. At OTAs, they are together through warmups, chatting the entire time. I wonder what SS would be without Kasay's influence. Imagine if neither Smith nor Kasay are on next season's roster. It could happen.

Yep... we cant continue to piss away roster spots. Love to see him stay but no use leaving a suspect kicking game around...

Kasay is one of those players that is more than just a roster spot. He brings stability to the team and a veteran eye amidst the changes that are about to happen. I can see Smith leaving after this season, though I hope he doesn't, but I don't see even a new staff telling Kasay to hit the road. I honestly think J.R. would step in if it came to that and tell the new staff that Kasay can remain on the team until he becomes ineffective or wants to hang it up. He's earned preferential treatment in my opinion.
