Jerry Richardson announces that Fox and his entire staff will not return in 2011

Ok, technically, you're right and I stand corrected. But the NFLPA and NFL Coaches Association have a relationship. A closer relationship than either have with the Owners. Hell, the NFLPA helped the NFL "Coaches Association" startup.

In this CBA fiasco, the two are aligned.

The Coaches Association only includes below coordinator level.

Im hoping that the fact that Richardson didn't wait until the very end of the season to do this is signaling that the replacement is in sight. Maybe we won't have to wait too long. I also think that the fact that the Niners are moving so fast in order to try to secure Harbaugh could be a factor...

I'm kind of disappointed in this.

There were a few who I feel earned the right to stick around, but I suppose that's the business.

I just think that keeping some around would've provided a little bit of consistency, which I'm sure the players would love.

We know how the Backs feel about Skipper, and I'm sure they're a little disappointed about this news.

I will say I would be shocked however if not one of the former coaching staff members finds his way back here in the offseason.

A few thoughts.

Seems like JR needs to jump in the coach finding task pretty quickly. Could mean a college guy, could mean he thinks there is competition out there for his guy.

Don't all assistants usually get hired by the head coach? (Except for JJ's team).

A good assistant could be hired by the new coach. Panthers could have a couple that would get an interview unless the new coach has his person to bring in for that particular assignment.

Could be that JR announced this before the game for the same reason the Niners fired Singletary with 1 game left (they did not do that to turn their season around.) Perhaps they are interested in the same coach???

I think the odds on Harbaugh/Luck coming here just went up.

I agree LP. As I mentioned in my neglected and ignored post above, I think the coordinator rumors are BS reports by nat'l guys trying to connect the dots on low-cost, JR-type guys. And as I mentioned, wouldn't any contact with them be tampering before the season/playoffs are over?

I think this lends to either an unemployed or college coach be the leading candidate.
