Who had the most accurate scouting report on Clausen?

I think the sense of entitlement is strong in him. I am not sure he has ever really competed for anything. From what I can tell, he was the chosen one in high school.

He was, everyone at ND thought he was God's gift to the school when he got there.....

Technically, he's a vet in 3 days.

And well... he's looked pretty terrible, even for a Rookie.

This is the problem I have with the people who say that Jimmy will turn it around. Every rookie starting QB that has ever amounted to anything in the NFL has shown one thing from start to start......progression.... Even Troy Aikman who was dreadful his rookie year still showed progression from game to game. If anything Clausen has done the opposite from game to game. Outside of one half against Seattle where he made some decent throws the guy has gotten worse each game. People can say whatever they want about our o-line not giving him enough time, but there has been plenty of occasions where he has ample time and he still looks like a scared child in the pocket.....

He has shown progression, but he's not going to turn into Brees overnight.

as someone who thinks the Eagles run in the last 10 years has been medicore (when in fact they are the 4th best team in the league the last 10 years)... I'm not sure this is worth bringing up.... but

When you surround a rookie QB around the implosion that you saw by the entire team and coaches.. what exactly were you expecting to see from a ROOKIE qb?

I mean, he may be a complete bust.. but this year is hardly the determining factor.

I would disagree about troy aikman showing progression from week to week in his first season. That is the worst comparison.

He played terrible but he still showed flashes of being a good QB. Perhaps a better comparison would be Manning, he had poor stats but watching the guy you could just see it was a matter of time before he was an elite QB. From game to game he got better and showed more signs each week.....

What progression has he shown. Exactly what have you seen from the kid that suggests we should pass on Andrew Luck, Cam Newton, Ryan Mallet or Jake Locker.....

lol @ clausen showing progression. I will agree though that he had nothing around him that worked until the later part of the season with the run game. He had a sack about every 9 pass attempts which proves how bad the OL was but could also prove how horrible he is in the pocket.

How about a passer rating in the 60s? Is that unreasonable?

I mean, even if he checks down on EVERY play because of pressure, the guy should have a better than 51% completion percentage.

Or how about hitting some open receivers when he does have time? Or throwing above the D-line's reach?

Yeah, some of this is learning, but some of it is either

1. Him not giving a poo.

2. Him really sucking.

Either way, he's not a leader, or he's a skill-less bust.

P.S. I like the snipe on the Eagles point. I'm sure their organization is just happy-go-lucky about winning all those Super Bowls in the past 10 years... oh wait...
