The official salary #s for tagging Peppers.

Sorry guys I love to hear you scheming plans but Pep has all the leverage and Gross is more important at this point. If we do not see Gross sign in a few weeks he will get the tag not pep. Peps agent was smart to tell all to the media also cause it even put more doubt that a team will trade for pep. So get over it he is gone and we are gonna get noting for him.

somehow I doubt that he will just walk away and we wont get 'noting' for him.

People are getting a touch worried over nothing.

We can designate Peppers our franchise player, which locks him up regardless. He does not have to sign the contract until right before training camp though, case example was Gross last year. If there is no contract signing, that figure will NOT count against the cap. Therefore once we designate him our franchise player we will have room to sign free agents and lock up Gross - if he wants to stay that is....

(v) For Transition Players and Franchise Players, the tender will be included in Team Salary when made until the player is signed, the tender is withdrawn, the Team's rights are relinquished, or the Tuesday following the tenth game of the regular season (if the player is unsigned).

if peppers doesn't sign the contract it doesn't hurt our cap. we can tag him and let him work out a trade if he wants to play somewhere else.

just because we slap his butt with the tag doesn't mean that we are going to have to pay him.

Incorrect

true that we don't have to pay him unless he signs, but , if we do tag him, by Feb 27th, we MUST have the cap room to cover the franchise salary whether he has signed or not. That's the rule. The salary is guaranteed as soon as he signs. That's why teams may wait it out to see what we do.

We dont have to be under the cap till right before TC so its possible we could Trade him before that and be under the cap at that time.

Incorrect

Only a certain number of contracts (top 51?) count until that point, but you must be under the cap starting when the official cap number is posted, Feb 27th. After final roster cut downs, all contracts count.

Thank you!
