Richard Marshall

If Luck doesn't come out the offensive options that high in the draft are very limited. We could go AJ Green but I really think that Lafell and Gettis are our WR's of the future and I think our pathetic passing game has been more a product of terrible QB play and terrible play calling than a product of bad WR's.

i say in that situation you trade down if you can - we could use the picks we gain to make selections that'll fill our needs at OL and DL.

ultimately it'll depend on what happens in free agency. some holes may be filled nicely by FA pickups and trades, determining what's going to be picked up in the draft.

What happened to all of that "highest paid defensive back in the league" talk?

This. Hell, I remember he and his agent talking about "highest paid defensive player in the league". Talking about out of touch with reality...

I think Marshall is an okay CB and I'd like to see him resigned as long as he and his agent are ready to be realistic. He's definitely not a guy I'd break the bank for or even close to it.

I'm all for keeping Marshall if two conditions are met. One, he doesn't ask for alot of money. Two, he goes back to being our nickel guy and third corner. This guy is an outstanding nickelback. He was great at getting pressure on the QB when he blitz and made plays with getting interceptions.

When he played for us on the other side of Gamble, he was a little above an average corner. That is why he would be most valuable to us as a nickel corner. As for who takes his place at starter, if Luck doesn't declare, we need to take Patrick Peterson. If Luck declares, we need to look at two possibilities of either Champ Bailey or Nnamdi Asomugha.

Champ Bailey will be a free agent after this season, so he would be very easy to bring in if we show to him we are a competitor and show him decent money. Yet if we got Aso, that would be very huge, instantly upgrading our defense into a top five defense. (Even top three) Aso is the only player I know of in recent years to make a probowl, without having any notable stats to speak of.

This means no one is throwing to his side of the field. If we land him and keep Marshall (placing Marshall back to our third corner position), along with Luck at QB, the Panthers may just go 12-4 at the very least next year.
