Fox' win percentage compared to present/past coaches...

If you compare the first 128 games by each coach (i.e ignore the last Fox season) Fox was a better coach in both wins and playoff results. They are also very similar coaches.

The only reason Coughlin now has a better record is his second stint with the Giants where he is 64-46 with a Superbowl run.

I'm telling you any smart GM sees Fox with the potential to take a good team to greatness because of his style and precedent. May or may not want his style but if the do he is a lock

It's all timing but this is why i believe Fox will HC again in the next couple years

That's my point. Coughlin isn't that good of a coach. Yet right now he has a better percentage than Fox. Teams are going to look at what Fox has done lately. A huge playoff blowout followed by a season where he sticks with a finished QB through 11 games on the way to another crap season. Then the next season in which he only gets 2 wins.

Your analysis is weak and lacks critical thought

You lack critical thought if you think teams are going to care what Fox did 5 or 7 years ago and don't realize that the NFL changes and Fox does not have the ability to change. Which is why he has been so inconsistent. If we can see that, other teams surely can as well.

John Fox's winning percentage in the past 5 years (around the time the league started to go pass-centric) is only 46%. That's around Dennis Green levels. The era of Foxball is over. It may return one day, but it's not here now.

Also, that has to sting that Jack Del Rio has a better winning percentage than he does.

Exactly. Teams aren't going to give a damn what he did over half a decade ago.

You see what you want to see.

You don't see that Fox has a good system.

You don't see that more teams that are running/defensive teams are in the playoffs this year than teams that air it out.

You are ruined by fantasy football.

You are ruined by watching too much ESPN

I feel sorry for you.

You are ruined by hanging on to memories of 7 years ago and don't realize the game has changed since then and Fox will not change.

I wonder if people will miss defense when we lose games 40-37 or 38-37 like the Bills or will they just be happy we put up points?

who says that we have to give up on defense to admit the passing game is paramount?

one thing that i will not miss for sure is that whole frikkin "protect the lead" mentality rather than trying to grow it. this is something that will also hold him back, as well as whatever team thinks it's a good idea to hire him, just like it did us the past few years.

you can't just play not to lose. you can't get passive on offense once you get a little bit of a lead, hoping that your defense will protect it for you. fox hasn't figured that out.

They have balance. Something Fox has struggled with his entire tenure here.

Wrong, most of them are near the top in the running department and near the middle in the passing department. Also, they are in the top in defense as well.

People on this board are saying we need to get with the times and be in the gun and air it out and blah blah blah when it isn't true.

Agreed. The passing game needs to improve but it's in no way shape or form the most important part of the football team. It needs to improve big time but to win you must be able to run the ball effectively and play defense.

I think Fox's next employer will be happy with him for a few years and it'll be time to move on, just everyone else.

For the AFC, The Ravens and Steelers can run or pass at will. Same for the Patriots. The Chiefs finally have a balanced offense with Charles and Bowe breaking out. The Colts are pass heavy, but have struggled with their run game (not to mention Peyton trying to do too much recently) which is why they aren't looking so good.

The Eagles, we'll its obvious they can run or pass effeciently. The Bears Forte and Knox are almost over 1,000 yards for the season. The Falcons have a balanced attack. The Saints are pass heavy and dont look like they'll go very far in the playoffs because their running game isn't as efficient.

Btw, The Saints have been pass heavy since Brees arrived, but they didn't win a Super Bowl until they found their run game late last season and became a balanced offense.

Ultimately its balance that gets you far.
