Fox' win percentage compared to present/past coaches...

Yes but 14 extra losses because the FO gave him Jimmy Clausen in the second round instead of a position of need and gutted anyone who had played in the NFL before.

The point the OP was trying to make was that FO will look at Fox and see a .500 coach. What anyone with a half a brain will realize is that other FO will look at this season and say "Holy Fug, Hurney really gave it to Foxy dirty style. Let's bring him in for an interview and see if we like him. He's done some amazing things in the past and last year isn't an accurate reflection of him as a coach."

The bottom line is that Fox has a pretty good reputation around most of the league, among the people who will actually be making the hiring decisions. The people who will be making the hiring decisions aren't going to be printing the win loss numbers from the OP's post and denying Fox the chance to interview. They will look at how he turned around a team that was 1-15 into a Super Bowl team within two years, had another deep playoff run tow years later, and won a strong division in 2008, all with Jake Delhomme at quarterback. While that last sentence doesn't take into account a number of other factors that diehard Panther fans are going to be more aware of, someone in a losing organization will hire him in the hopes that he can make another miracle happen.

If I'm doing the math correctly his win percentage prior to this season was closer to .550. I'm no Fox apologist, and I'm certainly not trying to insinuate that this season doesn't count, but to lump him in with the likes of Wally Lemm (who?) seems a little silly.

This is what i was going to post. Fox is better than a .500 coach.

Any GM who likes Fox's coaching style will ignore the current season

5 interceptions by a QB who decided to stop being good at the exact wrong time?

a shame we didn't have a coach who knew how to gameplan....otherwise that game would have been different to begin with. Should have been running the ball and should have decided to put in a gameplan for Larry Fitzgerald. Fox treated Larry like some bum off the street the first half. We also got to that AZ game on the backs of Double Trouble.....not Jake. The AZ was much more on Fox imo than Jake. Fox allowed for and setup that disaster.

The gameplan was what killed us as well. How many times did we throw it even with jake sucking? Why wasn't Gamble man on man with Fitz? The whole game was terribly game planned (which Fox has been out coached for most of his tenure).

The bottom line is Fox's style of play wins in the NFL.

Run the ball and play defense is the formula for success, always has been always will be unless the NFL makes passing touchdowns worth 9 points instead of 6.

No a blananced offense along with the defense is the formula for success. The Saints found their run game and won a Super Bowl. We haven't been balanced for a while.

Anyone with half a brain would see that my point was that Fox isn't in good company and will struggle to find a HC job soon. I posted Fox's winning percentage, which was a little higher than .500. I was just pointing out all the other coaches in the .500 RANGE and comparing them to Fox to bring his record to light. Don't forget Front Offices will also look at how poorly he coached last season and in our last playoff game.
