Where is the best Barbecue?

Another best BBQ thread. Thats almost as bad as another 9-11 conspiracy theory thread in the tinderbox. :)

Yeah and while it won't change any minds (like the 9/11 threads) it's constructive in that it gives people ideas on where to find good BBQ.:D

Now then....

I'm from Reidsville so Short Sugars always has a specia lplace in my heart.

Skylight is flat out awesome.

Lexington is great.

In Texas, Lockhart BBQ & Smittys are can't miss places.

17th street in Illinois is great.

Big Bob Gibsons in Alabama is fantastic.

Dinosaur in Syracuse (yes New York) is a good place too.

Gates in Missouri.... Hell I could go on for hours.

But the best IMO comes out of my smoker. I know exactly what i like & pulled pork with peach fire sauce an maple slaw reigns supreme.

If you're ever down southwest Florida way, there is a place on 301 in Ellenton called Hickory Hollow. It's been there forever and is a total dive. The guy who owns it, and cooks, is from Wilmington. His mom grew up in N.C. too and his dad is from Virginia. So when you order BBQ, you can get it vinegar-based or tomato-based. He gives you a wooden board with all of his sides for the day (usually about 30 or so) and about 5 desserts--all kinds of cobblers and puddings. Whenever I'm missing N.C., I head up there--it's the best BBQ I've found away from home.

I live in Bradenton and have driven by this place a time or two. Guess I'll have to stop in and give it a try...
