Do you believe JR will spend money this offseason?

I'm on the fence about this. I have this bad feeling it's going to be a high price bidding war between the 49'ers and panthers on who gets Harbaugh. Would JR be willing to shell out the big bucks for an unproven College HC in the NFL, knowing Luck will come with him?

I know JR sees the anger with us the fans about how the season was played out. He stated in his letter he will spend the money and make sure he gets the right people into the organization to get back to our glory days. Now do you believe he will uphold that statement?

he's already said he believes in building through the draft and NFL experts are saying all teams are looking at cheap assistant coaches instead of big names like Cowher, Gruden etc.

he'll spend money on Luck and resigning some free agents, I don't think that will include Charles Johnson or Marshall, and that'll be it.

Shoulda made a poll.

But yeah if there is a new CBA then he will certainly spend the dough.

He doesn't have any choice too because we have so many FA's ourselves and we own the #1 pick which means we are paying the highest for any draft pick regardless of a rookie pay scale.

I don't know if he'll go after any top tier FA's since that doesn't seem to be the philosophy of the FO. But I think a few signings are in order we have too much cap room to not at least use some of it.

Why Charles Johnson?

He hasn't shown any desire to leave and he's the only guy on the line worth a damn at this point.

Marshall has been previously a little disgruntled and his recent comments about wanting to stay aren't really all that convincing. He's basically saying that if they pay him he'll stay. So he's about the only guy I can really see leaving.

He'll spend money the way that he always does...on draft picks and second tier FAs. I do think that Johnson will be a Panther though. He has had a solid season and isn't going to be in the top tier FA pool that demands a ton of money. Hopefully Luck comes out and we get him. If that happens then I think that Hurney/Richardson will follow the trend of getting Luck a big/reliable target. That could include Vincent Jackson but more likely will be a TE like Scheffler or Fasano or maybe an OC that can actually utilize Rosario and Barnridge.

Hurney and JR aren't going to sign a bunch of high profile FA's. We're going to draft well and we're going to sign good players for a good price. We may get 1 or 2 big players.

Guy's like Steve Breaston, Davon Bess, James Jones, Brandon Mebane, Barry Cofield, Gabe Watson, Alan Branch. Even Champ Bailey and Seymour, these will all be great additions to the team that aren't going to command massive contracts, and even if they do they will likely be worth the price. Forget TO, Ocho Cinco, Haynesworth, B. Favre. V. Jackson would be great but that's a pipe dream. He's an unnecessary sign anyway.

Don't forget we have to worry about keeping Charles Johnson, James Anderson, Thomas Davis, Ryan Kalil, and Deangelo.
