Richardson Doesn't Deserve to Get "Lucky"

I guess I am in the minority here. I don’t understand all the outrage and whatever over his argument. Though I do not agree it seems he has valid and arguable reasons for his beliefs.

I know myself and a lot of others were very hard on JR from the lack of signings in FA and during the year for putting such a young team on the field because he was worrying about the CBA. All he’s saying (at least to me) is that JR did not try hard to have a successful season. If Luck declares he is a gem that we would be lucky to have. So being upset that an owner who did not give two shits about winning this season is rewarded with a stud like Luck is a valid argument and article… one that he has a right to write.

We have not done much this year for the media to respect us or our team, so don’t be surprised when you see articles or opinions like that.

Like I said I don’t agree with the article, but I don’t how what he said is so wrong or terrible. It’s not like he didn’t back up his statement with actions and how he perceives them.

To suggest that the worst team in the NFL doesn't deserve the first pick, is idiotic. Its not the NBA, there is no lottery. To suggest that JR tanked to get the first pick the drat is also idiotic. His points on Peppers are 100% WRONG, which figures because he knows nothing about this team. He Failed to mention the several offers we made to Peppers, including the last one. Who gives a poo whether he thinks JR deserves it or not. The fans do, and the team does, and Thats what matters. Hes an ass for that very reason.

He didn't back up anything. He said we failed to replace Peppers when the guy we gave his spot to had a very good season (more sacks, even). He said we should have fired Fox this off season, and eaten the 6.5 million from his contract. Look at Fox's record and tell me you would have predicted a 2 win season back in August.

The only thing he presents as evidence is "olol Jerry gave a speech to the owners" and the fact that he's involved in fighting the union.

It's a business. He made a business decision heading into an uncapped year and possible lockout to tighten the belt a little. He probably thought we were a 7-9 win team, based on our defense and running game alone, which sounds about right. Then Otah couldn't go, the coach starting pouting, the QB play stunk to record levels, line took forever to gel, rookie mistakes from a young team and bam.

Not that Silva would know any of this. I doubt he knows anything not related to Smith, Williams, and Fox. Headline stuff. He's ignorant and pissing himself that Jerry threw the season on purpose omg.

It's the tone and venom in which he wrote the article. There's nothing wrong with disagreeing with the decisions a team made...that comes with the territory. But to be so hateful and personal in his attack is unfair and unnecessary. Particularly since many of his points could be legitimately debated as being completely off base.

Perhaps JR doesn't deserve Luck but the fans surely do. We suffered through his awful season and getting Luck would take a bit of sting out of the terrible year.

this is exactly what I came in here to post

this guy talks about how Jerry hurt the fans, and then says we shouldn't get Luck? who does this hurt more, an owner who will make money regardless or the fans who want to see a competitive team?

Like I said, I know I am in the minority on this I still don't get the anger. Yes we can disagree with his reasoning, and the way he feels, but I think he explained why he felt that way. We may not agreew with the why, but it is his valid personal perception of this situation.

When I read it, it seems he feels as though in general JR did not try to win this season... or it was not that important. I don't think he's saying ALL teams who picked #1 didn;t deserve the pick.... Just us because our ownership did not take necessacry steps to atleast try to field a winning team this year. In the offseason winning was not their goal. If that's how he feels I don't understand what's wrong for having an opinion.

But whatever.... Bash on. I just will not understand the outrage.

Well then don't understand it then. Its unprofessional, but it gets people to read. Making accusations with half-truths, it happens all the time. You only hear this from people on the outside with No clue. Have an opinion, but when you make accusations like that and can't back them up properly (which he did NOT) then you should keep your f**king mouth shut. THATS why people are pissed.

Is that not what writers and columinst do everywhere... Poitics, Sprts, entertainment whatever.... They write from how they perceive actions, things, events whatever. Isn't that how 5 people can observe the exact same thing and have different opinions?

not to mention its just plain f**king stupid. the "tanking" myth is just another conspiracy theory to get people talking.

You see what happened here.... You "Perceive" that he said Carolina was tanking with a conspiracy (I assume for the #1 pick) and you just made a strong opinion on that perception.

But he did not say JR tanked... simply that he was more worried about the outcome of the CBA and therefore allowed his team to be put in a losing situation.

Yet a small part of me would view the quarterback’s decision to stay as poetic justice for Richardson’s apparent willingness to tank the season. In my view, Carolina fans deserve better – and he’s one owner who deserves to be un-Lucky.

What about that is a perception on my behalf?
