Godfrey, Beason and Khalil pro bowl alternates??

The criticism of Godfrey on this board is vastly overblown. Absolutely he takes too many risks and got beat for some big plays. But he also made some big plays and I'm not just talking about interceptions. He's done a great job in run support (lulzbut didn't dat hillis guy knock him over?! stfu). I think this board has way too much a tendency to see him give up a play and then hyper-sensationalize it and apply it to his entire game. Lately he's been doing well and yes, he is improving. Obviously the coaches and players in the NFL thought he deserved it because he sure as hell didn't get fan votes.

I'll defend Gross, Kalil & Beason because they all faced tough situations but Godfrey really doesn't deserve it at all. Yes, the interceptions were nice but that was the only contribution he made on D.

I give no one on the offensive line a pass. Its a joke for Kalil to be mentioned more than it is Godfrey.

Exactly. Its like when he makes a good play its meh. When he makes a bad play is OMFG he is the worst safety in the league. I really wish everyone could just sit back and objectively watch him play. He is VASTLY improved from the first part of last year. Matter of fact ever since he came back after injury and Sherrod Martin outplaying him at the safety position, he has been playing good to really good safety. I hope everyone doesn't wait to late to realize it.

Hes slow to come over the top and takes bad angles sometimes, but the dude hits and leads the team with 5 picks. Every announcer/analysts are saying that next year we should see him start to be amazing.

This board is usually wrong on a lot of things (Michael Vick, New Orleans Saints, etc) but they're not wrong on Godfrey.

Guy is overrated.

Also we've had several QB injuries this year because of poor offensive line play, can't believe they still hold Kalil and Gross in such high regard.

I've supported and defended Godfrey's play throughout the season, and while I can't believe Kalil or Gross got in over Johnson, I can't quite say I agree with him (Godfrey) getting in the Pro Bowl, even as an alternate.

Beason being put in was a nod from the coaches and players most likely. He 100% deserves a trip, though he's probably salty like he was last year when he was an alt.

Godfrey though has stepped up and I hope they extend him next year, or even this offseason. He's earned it and has shown that he can develop and respond to adversity. He learned a lot under Chris Harris, and it shows because he's learned how to give up the big plays like Chris did in order to get that big hit

I can forgive those big plays though. Let's be honest here: How many games would we have won had Godfrey not given up those plays? Would we suddenly be walking into next season with Jimmy Clausen and without a #1 pick? I doubt it, and I don't like that scenario either.

I'm surprised any panthers made the pro bowl, but on the godfrey topic, if he's gonna wear the no. 30 he needs to produce to at least 80% of what minter did. Cj got shunned bc of the talent at DE in the NFC granted a lot of the DEs that are "elite" in the NFC dropped in productivity this year. Peppers for example, yea he didn't put up PB stats but his presence helped improve the bears dline. His name is what got him in.

What fans? Sensationalist Carolina fans think he's horrible. No one else's fans watch us. So no, he didn't get in on fan votes alone...especially since they are only worth a third of the vote.
