Webb Drafted as....

Good god, another start Armanti thread. Can these please die in the off season? Please? Webb has probably had a lot of practice lately with Favre and Tavaris going down. AE hasn't practiced a damn thing. Not only is he too small, but he'd look lost out there on Sunday.

Just what is it? Is it because he's a Carolina Panther and you can say no wrong about 95% of the team? Why do people think he can actually be a solid QB in the NFL? I really need to know.

You know who we need? Vinny T! He can turn any player into a beast.

Carolina Message Board after Bears/Cardinals game 2006:

"The Denny Green tirade was embarassing, but still at least Arizona now knows Leinart is the real deal."

Yep.

We've had people ready to trade for Dennis Dixon, Matt Flynn, and numerous other guys after one good game too.

The words that always echo in my ear when this happens are "Doug Johnson could start for twenty NFL teams" :sosp:

This isn't a start Armanti thread. I just wanted to see what this guy was made of, rather WR or QB, I just want him to see the field. Hey this year, we tanked, why not evaluated what we have at key positions and our draft picks? I just think they whole thing where people judge a person and say, "Oh, He is not fit for the NFL or He is". No one knows that until the person takes the field. Yeah, Steve Smith was too small to play WR. I mean really. Some of the negativity that people received on this board when someone merely makes a comment is quite ridiculous. All I am saying is be open. I watch all these other teams use their draft picks and call plays that fit their style. Maybe this will change with a new coaching staff. We will see.

To the OP, you have to look at the franchise Webb was drafted by. The Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings are a franchise that has drafted and started black QBs many times before. Hall Of Famer Warren Moon played for the Vikings in the 90s as well as all pro scrambler & TD passer, Randall Cunningham. They drafted 3 time pro bowler Daunte Culpepper in the 1st round. They drafted Tarvaris Jackson in the 2nd round. My point being, them starting and believing in Joe Webb isnt a foreign concept to them. I doubt starting a rookie like Webb is a culture shock to their fanbase. I mean Webb was brought in as a WR but once Childress saw him pass he got reps as a QB. The Vikings are alot more open minded about the QB position than we are. We dont have that kind of history or familiarity with a QB like that. So its a different situation for Armanti. Different expectations.
