Something to think about regarding the next HC Part II

So I know that everyone is on the Harbaugh train but let me bring you back to reality for just one second. While most on here is dreaming over the idea of Harbaugh being our head coach, I, on the other hand, fear him becoming a NFL head coach.

For starters, I think many need to realize that just because you were a NFL QB/Player doesn't always equate success as a NFL Head Coach. Also, just because he ran a pro-style offense in college doesn't mean that his philosophy would do well here in Carolina.

Point #2:

Take a look around our division for a second. Both the Falcons and Saints are on the verge of making the playoffs with Atlanta possibly being the top seed. Let me ask you this, did you ever think a guy like Sean Payton or Mike Smith would be a head coach in this league?

If you answer no then you just proved my point which is you don't have to be a big name coach to equate success. These "boring" names that are being bounced around may make this team more successful then Fox. So I ask that if Harbaugh isn't our choice to please don't jump to conclusions and assume that the coach Carolina hires will automatically is a bad choice without giving that guy a season to work under.

Also, with any new coach coming in, don't expect success right away... Generally it takes a good year to acclimate into a new system. So please be patient.

Food for thought

I agree. I honestly don't think we will get Harbaugh but just because we have a rookie coach doesn't mean we can't be successful

We have a lot of cap room for next year and the reason why our front office decided to rebuild this year was so our organization can be successful in the NFL under the new CBA. I don't believe there will be any team that will have as good as an opportunity as we have. I mean we have cap room, the number one pick and a new coach coming in.

We can still fail with a bad coach, bad pick and bad free agents but hopefully our front office will make the right decisions and build our team into a successful franchise.

I really like the idea of Harbaugh because Luck is familiar and comfortable with him. If we want Luck right away, what better way then to get him into an offense or form of offense he knows the best. Its simple. What do other coaches have that Harbaugh does not have? Hes as good a candidate as anyone.

if it weren't for luck nobody would want harbaugh in the first place.

naw...there was talk going back to last year about harbaugh coming here...well before we had any idea of luck coming out this early or being as good as he is.

he's been top of my list for a pretty good while.

also, there is no HC from any situation that comes without a risk of failure. there are plenty of retreads who have resulted in fail. same with position coaches and coordinators. same with big names and no names.

don't be afraid of a guy because he is the hot name now. before a couple months ago there were only a few talking about harbaugh in here. eveyone one is a no name before they make a name for themselves. sometimes it happens when they get hired, sometimes before. too many people making too big of a deal of the fact that harbaugh is all of a sudden the hot commodity. he's that for a good reason and he has just as much of a chance of coming here and succeeding as anyone. imo, he has more of a chance, but then that's my opinion.

The success of a head coach is determined by who they hire as coordinators and position folks. Harbaugh is an NFL veteran and knows alot of people who can come in here and help us. From a philosophy point of view he runs a system at Stanford which had a strong run as well as passing component. He is not your typical college coach moving up to the pros. I don't know if he is the best option for us but he certainly isn't our worse choice and could do well I suspect.

This is the reason I have settled on Harbaugh as my #1 choice. His system fits our personnel, but without the conservative baseline Fox brought.

That's what I think also. He's only a popular choice among fans because most fear that Luck won't declare if Harbaugh isn't with the team.

9er fans love the idea because they think if they get him, he'll be able to get Luck to declare and then snap his fingers and work out some kind of blockbuster trade with the Panthers for their pick.
